Thanks Alina for being so helpful. To anyone else, this location is great. Not silent but if that’s your maxim, you’re not going to love Cuba! Compostela runs across Obispo, is near the WiFi hotspot and overlooks the bank. All good.
Stayed in July 2018. We booked this place through Airbnb. We booked 2 rooms and it was only us who stayed in the whole house because the other room was vacant and the other rooms were under renovation. Our rooms were the one with 3 balconies and the other one is the one with the bathroom on the street side, making it quieter at night. There were hosts who stayed there during the day and also one good young man at night, so we felt really safe with him around. He was also helpful in recommending places to go because since there is no wifi, he uses his own phone to help us. The house is on the 2nd floor but they will help you carry your luggages, the house is gorgeous colonial house and is always kept clean even our rooms that they clean everyday too. The mini-bar is great especially after long walking tours because apparently it can be difficult sometimes to find cold water or beer around Havana. It is very close to Plaza Vieja with lots of restaurants around, you can walk almost to anywhere in Old Havana but there are always tribikes or taxis downstairs waiting for you. The rooms best feature is the balcony! We had good pictures of what Havana is about just by standing in the balcony. Our room is the one at the corner so we can see almost every happening below us. It can be noisy quite early, but that's Havana, and also we need to be up early anyway. When it rained one day, there were leaks from our floor, don't know how, but they were quick to clean and resolve it. Perhaps because of all the renovation going on around us.…
Lovely room, with high, ornate ceiling, patterned tiled floors, clean modern bathroom, and balcony. Right in the heat of old Havana. Really nice staff. Our flight was in the evening so they let us leave our luggage all day after we checked out and use the shower.
This place appears to go by two names under Tripadvisor which is confusing. It used to be Hostal Balcones but the old owners sold it and it has since been refurbished and is now an Airbnb called Balcones Vieja Havana - a stones throw from the Plaza Vieja. We loved being able to watch the world go below from the balcony. The high ceilings and old colonial house is beautiful. We loved the chandeliers and the old furniture. Our first room had been converted to a room with En-Suite but it made it too small. The bathroom was huge in comparison to the bedroom, which felt like a chamber. The next day however, I peeked into another room which was huge and beautiful - very romantic with three balconies (so right on the corner of the building and the street). They let us move into that room. We loved it. The bathroom is next door to the room and in white marble. Very lovely. Breakfast was ok. A little greasy for me, but I cannot fault the friendliness of the girls - they were so helpful, especially when it came to getting taxis or doing the laundry. The owner wasn’t there but very kindly refunded our first night when we could not travel due to illness. We decided to come back for our final night in Cuba as they kindly looked after our luggage while we had a few days in Vinales. I would recommend.…
This house has a wonderful atmposhere. It is very well furnished, every furniture and relic has been placed in the right place in order to perfectly keep a colonial house. It is very clean and the people who work there are so kind and helpful. A special thanks goes to Hector who helped during the whole vacation!
