Best place to stay in Cuba. Ramiro is so friendly and convenient... he helped us in finding other places to stay for the rest of our travel and advised us on many other things. He stayed in touch with us to be sure all was going well in Cuba. Ramiro is also the only guy speaking English on the Island :-) I warmly recommend this address.
Ramiro definitely helped make our stay in Havana enjoyable! The airport pick up and drop off was crucial as the Havana airport is quite chaotic outside. He provided us with all the information we needed to navigate the city and we enjoyed our morning conversations over breakfast. It's a little difficult grabbing a cab from his place, but we were able to make due and walked to busier streets to hail a ride into the city. The house is very clean and comfortable. We highly recommend staying with Ramiro when you visit Havana!
I arrived with my bicycle and it wasn't a problem. Easy to find from the airport. Easy bicycling in every directions. Ramiro's english is so good, I forgot I wanted to learn spanish. I listened Tv in spanish. Breakfast and supper was great.
I travelled to Cuba on my own, and wanted to start my journey with an authentic Cuban-experience. Since I dont speak two words of spanish, and did not know a lot about the country, the best option for me was to start my visit with an english speaking, local host that can help me navigate and plan my travels. To make a long story short, the second day in Cuba, I had to have an operation, which was rough, as I do not speak the language and had some trouble with the insurances. Ramiro could not have been more helpful! He went out of his way, visited me every day in the hospital, translated and genuinly cared about my well being. Due to the cirucmstances I stayed much longer with him than initially planned, and I enyoed it! We had talks about Cuba, Cuban history, his personal experience, best things to do, and so on. My whole journey was then influenced by his advise, and his friends all over the islands. It enabled me to have a very authentic insight, as far as I can tell, and I am thankful for that as well. For the hard facts: he now has two rooms, both with Air Conditioning (necessary in June-September), has backup water tanks, and provides filtered water at no charge. His home is not in the centre, which I personally enjoyed (less noisy, less smog, fewer people), but means that you either take the bus (4 US cents & 5 min most days) or walk (35-45 min). I did both, and never used the cabs, which are always an option. Before this becomes a book, let me just repeat, that you wont find a more friendly, caring and most likely better informed host in Havana. I cant prove it, but it sounds good, doest it. Ramiro became a friend to me, and I hope will become one to you as well.…
Our family of 5 just returned home from Havana, and right from the start Ramiro was there taking care of business - Airport pickup was arranged, arranging transport to Trinidad, hotline support when when next casa particulate suddenly wasn't reserved as it actually was. I can go on and on. Not only is Ramiro a guy you can trust your life with - he is also extremely sympathetic and empathetic and we had the fortune to stay in his lovely casa the first 3 days - and his knowledge and advise made our 10 days in Cuba a wonderful experience. we met again with Ramiro and his wife on the way home in Havana after a trip to Varadero, and enjoyed drinks on a Havana terrasse and talking about Cuba. Go visit Cuba, and go visit Ramiro first ! Lovely breakfast, the smoothies were the best of all casas we visited :-)…
I had the most amazing introduction to Cuba by staying at Ramiro's home. Ramiro was the best host. Super friendly and extremely helpful I was made to feel at home instantly. His home was conveniently located central to all the major historic sites and old Havana. It doesn't take long to get your bearing and go exploring the immense culture that Havana has to offer. If you had questions, he had the answers. He is a wealth of information and can escort you to places and provide better information than most tour guides. I highly recommend his cozy secure home and spend time in this fabulous country. His friends and connections in other locations can take so much stress off you moving to other parts of the country. I am forever grateful for his assistance and the furthering of my education to his intriguing country.…
My wife and I just returned from a great week in Havana and Ramiro played a huge role in that. Ramiro's service was impeckable. He picked us up from the airport, arranged day trips to the beach and neighboring cities, helped us make dinner reservations, and was instrumental in helping us navigate the city. I would strongly recommend his house to anyone traveling to Havana.
We had a great stay at Ramiro's - at the start and end of our three week trip in Cuba. He was the most helpful host we had in all our time there, giving advice on how to get around the city like a local, the cheapest transport to take and what routes to use. The house is a cost flat in Vedado, not in walking distance of the main sights but easily connected by public transport such as the collectivos, which are very affordable to get around the city. It's a nice neighbourhood, not touristy so feels like a slice of real Cuban life, and the roof terrace is lovely for having a couple of drinks after a day sightseeing. Ramiro also helped us arrange our onward transport to Viñales and took us to the bus station to buy tickets (he charges a small fee for taxi-ing around but it was much easier than trying to find our own way). The breakfasts were delicious and filling, usually keeping us going until dinner, and the fridge was well stocked with water and beers when we arrived. We would definitely recommend a stay here - it's a lovely welcome to Cuba and to the busy city of Havana. Thanks Ramiro! Alice and Will…
We stayed with Ramiro totally four nights. Very nice guy, fluently in English, nice accommodation and good food. He took us to a popular local dance floor with Cubans. He taxied from & to the airport.
