I made a reservation to stay at The Sandpiper via Booking.com where we should have paid for the stay on arrival. The hotel wrongly charged my credit card weeks before we were due to arrive, in breach of the terms and conditions, and after weeks and weeks of trying to get a refund, the hotel decided to only refund part of the fees they had wrongly charged. I have had to re-contact the hotel for the remainder of the refund to be made, which I'm still yet to receive. My advice is to proceed very carefully when booking at this hotel and make sure you keep an eye on any refunds as they tend to try and avoid making full refunds which is shocking!
My husband and I decided to enjoy a last-minute get-away to Barbados over Christmas. It was our first visit to the island and we choose to stay at the Sandpiper Hotel - which we quickly discovered was paradise on earth. The setting, rooms, and most importantly the service, were outstanding. We stayed in the quarantine area of the hotel whilst we awaited our covid test results. We were pleased to see that the hotel had scrupulous covid measures in place throughout. We received our results on New Year’s Day and unfortunately, my husband tested positive. I then had to isolate in my hotel room for five days, whilst my husband was taken to Harrison's Point - the island's covid isolation hospital. It was my first time in the country and felt extremely vulnerable, but the hotel staff remained a constant reassuring presence - checking up on me and making sure I had everything I needed. When I subsequently became ill with covid, they did everything they could to make me comfortable before I moved to the hospital. Nothing was too much trouble and I received regular phone calls from management and owners checking up on me each day. A few days later, I too had to move to Harrison's Point to join my husband. Read my review of Harrisons Point Hospital in the Barbados Travel Forum to find out more about our experience (they saved his life). Whilst in the hospital we received food parcels from the Sandpiper - which they sent to keep our spirits up. It worked - there is nothing like a five-star meal when you are ill! They kept in contact throughout our hospitalisation and we could see they really cared. It meant a great deal to us and helped us through this difficult illness. The Sandpiper really is a fabulous hotel and I would strongly recommend booking to stay there. They helped us through a particularly difficult time and we really felt like we were being looked after by family. We honestly can't thank them enough.…
We have enjoyed many superb meals at The Sandpiper Restaurant over the years. Last night I thought I'd try something different, tempted by the intriguing name..."Beef Wellington With a Modern Twist". The plate was served as what could best be described as deconstructed Beef Wellington, with all the key ingredients cooked and separated slightly. The triangular pastry was very tasty and there wasn't a "soggy bottom" to be seen! Other members of our family had seared baracuda with soft shelled crab, ultimate burger, butternut squash gnocchi and Swordfish, all cooked to perfection. We also enjoy the laid back vibe with music from local duo, "The Two Guitars" during our meal.
I saw the reviews online about Harold's bar and I really wanted to try a change of scenery. Upon entry we were greeted and escorted by the friendly hotel Concierge who made us feel very welcomed and was really excited about taking us to the restaurant. It was beyond my expectations we met Harold he's very warm his staff is very friendly and genuinely caring. The customer service was on point and the food was delicious we definitely can't wait to return. Cheers guys @foodandadventurelover
I spent whole of November at Sandpiper and had a wonderful fantastic relaxing chilled time. The staff from the front desk to the restaurant waiters and beach and pool attendants were absolutely fantastic and service was delivered with a warm friendly smile. They make this place a very special place to stay and experience genuine Bajan hospitality a gem in the Caribbean.... The gardens surrounding the rooms are well maintained and beautiful...... I would recommend Sandpiper from my recent experience. The managers in particular really made me feel very welcome and treated me like family...... Thank you to the Managers and Terry Ann front office, Jamal at Beach Bar everyone for taking so much care of me. :-)) Randhir
