Such a disappointment. Titanium member We booked this hotel for a one night stay. We paid $500 and had access to the room for 18 hours. When we arrived, our room was not ready so we headed to the beach bar for a quick bite. Service was very slow. The wind blew my drink over and it spilled all over my pants. While the waitress did bring me a few napkins, there was no offer to bring another drink. I ordered a burger medium well and when it arrived, it was rare. Another 20 minutes to get another burger. When we got to our room, the ac was not working. Put a call into the desk around 8. Returned at 10:30 and it still wasn’t working. I asked for a late check out and they said they could not accommodate. That’s when they told me checkout was 10:00. So much for a relaxing first night. I’m so glad we are moving to the Bucuti hotel tomorrow night.

First let me say from reading previous reviews...Yes this year there was a longer wait for our rooms. We were told there is a shortage of workers and housekeeping is taking longer than usual. It has never happened in previous years and we have been going for over 12 years. This property is always very clean, safe, fun, lively, pleasant personnel in every area and so much more. I have to mention MILA at the first desk. Answered all of my 100 questions with professionalism and so friendly while doing so. Give that girl a promotion!! Lastly, one thing to improve on....the walkway behind Matey's Hall to town. My husband uses a mobility scooter and there is no handicap access to sidewalk. He had to ride his scooter in the street, which was kind of dangerous with cars coming in both directions. I'm sure this problem will be rectified.

I'm a time share owner and have been to the Aruba Surf club before and as always a great place to visit. Rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable (not sure about the pull out). Pool was wonderful! It was a bit crowded but relax and enjoy. Staff could not have been more helpful. Always friendly and helpful. We love having the 2 bedroom for the kids and living room area for breakfast and lunch. We will be back soon!

We checked in at 10 am and have watched 30 people get rooms… while waiting to get our room. They’re big on taking your money but very little on service. Night and day between Surf Club and Ocean Club… couldn’t recommend staying away from here enough. They won’t even guarantee your room being ready at 4 pm, which is check in time.

We were at the Marriott Aruba Surf Club last week. The property is nice, with several restaurants to select from on the property, the Marriott Beach Club (next door) and the Marriott Hotel, 2 doors down. When we checked in, they had us in a 2nd floor room in the Compass Tower, I requested in advance a high floor in the Lighthouse Tower (closest to beach). I asked which other rooms were available, and they said we could have a 10 floor, water-facing room in the Spyglass tower. The room was decorated nicely and the kitchen had everything you need to make any meals you choose to. In addition, there were several grills at the base of the building. The problem with the Spyglass tower is that it is quite a distance from the beach, which if you are traveling with someone disabled (which we were), makes it difficult to get to the beach every day. I spoke to people at the beach who drove over to the Lighthouse tower and parked there, which made sense, though there were rarely parking spots available. The beach is very nice, though the marina where tour boats come and go is adjacent to the beach for the Surf Club. In between the Surf and Ocean club is a "non-swim" area where boats come in to pick up riders for Jet-skiing, parasailing and other activities. The problem with this area between the two Marriott's is that the boats come in at a truly alarming speed, we have traveled all over the world and I have never experienced anything that felt so dangerous. It assumes that no one will swim outside the marked areas for either of the Marriott properties (or swim from one to another), we watched several very close calls. One important note, the chairs around the pool/lazy river and the beach palapa huts (straw roof shaded areas), while plentiful, the best seating is GONE by 6-6:30 AM, and this was in July. I can't imagine what it is like during the high season in December/January. If you want to be right next to the pool or oceanfront, you have to be down there by 5:30-6:00 with your chair tags in hand. You can't leave your seats until 7 AM, at that point you can attach your chair tags and your chairs will be safe for 2 hours. We repeatedly watched people wander a short distance from their chairs and other guests would complain loudly to the security guards (at the beach), or the pool monitors. ALSO - VERY IMPORTANT, you can NOT sit at a palapa that is not associated with the Marriott Surf Club (grey posts), if you happen to wander down to the Surf Club by accident, they will make you pick up your belongings and move to the right property (I learned this the hard way after sitting at a waterfront palapa for 2 hours from 5:45-7:45, when a security guard who talked to me 3x prior, told me I had to move). If you decided to swim in the pool, they have a nice swim up bar with wonderful bartenders and strong drinks. They had a Blood Mary special every day we were there for $7.50, they were tasty. If you decide to float in the lazy river there are a few things you should know. 1st - Bring your own tube, they have air filling stations by the pool, they do not provide floats. Floats can not be bigger than 54 inches. The lazy river is busy between 10-4 PM, not busy before 10 and after 4. Even though there are signs posted all over the place that kids can not climb on the center high raised areas, covered with vegetation and iguanas, many kids did it (no idea where their parents were), several people had kids actually jump on them, causing issues and debates in the pool. We ate at a couple of the restaurants on the property, including Atardi (on the beach). Atardi was expensive, beautiful setting but the service was really really really slow. Our entrees came out cold after waiting 90 minutes after we ordered them. The drinks were good and the appetizers were great. The sports grill at had great food (though completely inside). We also ate at the pizza place (name escapes me), family thought the pizza was great. The little lobby store had homemade ice cream (yum) and other items you may need. The grocery store is about. 5-10 minute drive back toward the airport. The grocery store had reasonable prices, considering you are on an island. Check-in and check-out was a breeze and the staff was wonderful.
