We recently spent 10 beautiful days at The RIU Palace Aruba to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. First time there and we couldn’t be happier about the time we had. The resort is Beautiful to say the least. Even with some covid protocol in effect the entire staff that we had the pleasure of dealing with were extremely helpful with everything. The lobby, lobby bar, sports bar, show bar, pool, pool bar and beach were exceptionally clean. The 4 restaurants (Italian/Gourmet/Japanese/Steakhouse) which we ate at 3 and the food was phenomenal. The buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was big enough to keep from being overcrowded. Plenty of different food stations to choose from. The staff in all those areas were friendly, happy and made you feel right at home. The entertainment staff was amazing. They were really great at getting guests involved in all they do. We were offered snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding all free of charge at the beach. Our room 803 was well kept which we didn’t spend much time in there but to shower and sleep but the housekeeping staff was the best. We met Michelle on our 1st day there. She introduced herself to us on arrival. We talked everyday and she was very attentive to our needs if we needed anything. We never was at need for anything. Michelle was awesome. The pool area had some great alcohol/beverage runners. Jeffery, Roselene and Dulce were great at their job. They made pool time fun. Not only did they bring drinks but they were also very entertaining. Finally my super hero was a receptionist at the lobby front check in. Her name is Suelisa. As I stated this was our 40th Anniversary and I wanted to order Roses. I tried a few times to look for a florist with no success. So I spoke with Suelisa about it. She must have called every florist on the island to make it happen. Suelisa got it together and had a bouquet of 40 Red Roses delivered to the hotel. She held them overnight in a air conditioned room and had them delivered to our breakfast table Sunday morning of our Anniversary. Suelisa I can’t thank you enough. This was what really made this vacation special. So with that said we give RIU Palace 5 Star rating! Loved the place!

This is going to be a lengthy one. We arrived at 3pm on a Sunday, we were greeted by Eli who was very nice & check in was a breeze. We were on the 6th floor located to the right side of the main building closer to the Hilton hotel. While in that part of the building we saw water damage everywhere with holes in the wall/ceiling of the hall it was not a welcoming vibe. Our room was a junior partial ocean view room that consisted of a living room area, king size bed in the bedroom, a bathroom, a slider & 1 balcony. The mirrors were rusty, the pink velvet furniture had holes in it, green mold was coming out of the electrical sockets. We were able to get past this, however the smell in this room was something I couldn’t handle. It was mold- it was nauseating and made me lightheaded after being in the room for a long period of time. We decided to air out the room, we opened both sliders & left for a few hours to walk the resort. When we returned, we closed the sliders & the air conditioner kicked back on, immediately the smell worsened again. We notified the front desk and they sent up a maintenance man to clean the AC filter. He spent about 20 minutes cleaning the filter, returned and then sprayed some type of aerosol chemical on it. Now it smelled like mold and chemicals. We called the front desk again, told them that the smell wasn’t any better and they said they had other rooms, but it would be a downgrade from what we had paid for. We didn’t care at all, we wanted whatever they had that was far away from this room that didn’t smell. An hour later they had us meet back in the lobby and the manager Dwight brought us to our new room. This time, we were in the main building on the 8th floor. He told us that this room was an upgrade, the room appeared the exact same layout/furniture, just a more frontal view of the ocean. Either way, we were just grateful to be out of the other room. This room did still have a slight moldy/ musty smell, but I can’t tell if that’s because it was still embedded in my nose from the previous room. By the end of the trip, we didn’t smell it anymore so we either were used to it, or it was from the previous room? The pool was large with a swim up bar and a DJ blasting music daily, very party scene. The beach was more laid back, we couldn’t get a cabana until the last day that we were there. People leave their towels on them and take off for hours, be prepared to get up before 6am to reserve yours. Smoking is allowed here which did not bode well for me. The man in front of our cabana chain smoked at least 8 cigs within the hour, I couldn’t take it anymore and left my cabana all together. The food was surprisingly decent for all inclusive, much better than we expected. Our favorite was the Nautilus steak house for dinner. In conclusion, the Riu is in DESPERATE need of renovating and revamping. However, the staff made this whole trip for us. They are so hardworking and really do want to make sure you have the best experience. Literally everyone we encountered was super helpful, I have not one bad thing to say about any of the RIU staff. We loved Luis, we opted to sit with him every morning for breakfast! If you’re looking for a romantic honeymoon, get away, this isn’t the place. If you’re looking for a fun time with your friends then I would say this is the place for you.

We just returned from the Riu Antillas yesterday and I must say it was terrible. This was our second stay there and we’re extremely excited for this trip. We arrived to a hotel under construction! I made my reservation on Riu.com and were never told about the ongoing construction! Noise everyday of our stay from 7 am to 7 pm! Closed restaurants! No ice machines! They didn’t even have Do Not Disturb cards to hang on your door. Open electrical wires. Dust everywhere! We spent a week there and were extremely disappointed! I’d stay away for at least a year to allow them to complete the work. I will not be going back! See picture of what the stay was like.

Rui Palace staff is incredible! Located right on the main high rise strip on Palm Beach. Location was very convenient to shopping and restaurants. The staff/ Customer service was top notch! Best customer service I have ever experienced. On our anniversary we were delighted to find a anniversary surprise on our room ( a heart shaped towel with roses, an anniversary sign and a shot glass with a sailboat on it! Another night we came to find an adorable towel dog. The customer service manager was always walking around asking guests how she could improve their stay. Our room was clean and the view was fantastic! Rooms need some updating but extremely clean! The beach and pool area were gorgeous! Very friendly bar and entertainment staff around pool! Food was excellent. A lot of great choices for all meals! Our view from the balcony was so nice. So calm and peaceful. Can’t wait to return!

My husband and I just checked in, and they will not change our room. A large part of our view is construction and we are also surrounded by construction and hotel renovations. There is constant noise too. This is the worse place we have stayed since we were in college. I question how well they are following covid guidelines. So much for a romantic vacation.
