A lovely setting (except for the very parched grass areas - even in Antigua its possible to keep grassed areas in good order !) Long is its history as a colonial house ,but as a restaurant -- lacking in real style. The lunch table setting was really nice but the service was very mixed eg the wrong item coming at the wrong time. The menu is very simple but they still managed to get a number of the orders wrong ( and the final bill ). The staff were, as always on the island, very friendly and polite but perhaps a little undertrained. The prices are typical for Antigua ,very high , unfortunately the general quality of the food was only average. However it has a good wine list. Difficult to really recommend to friends - unfortunately !

My wife and I loved every minute of our stay at this beautiful boutique hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights. It's located away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas on Antigua, but that was exactly what we were looking for. We got to stay in one of their brand new cottages. The room was HUGE! From the minute we arrived, Mara (the main housekeeper) took care of our every need. She is the sweetest! The meals we ate there were amazing, their pool is huge, and we loved spending our time walking around the grounds and hearing all of the birds chirping. We seriously can't recommend this hotel enough. Do yourself a favor and stay here! You won't regret it!!!

It’s almost three weeks since we returned from the Great House and yet it’s balm stays with us. My husband and I travel frequently and love all that Antigua offers but this was very special. Apart from anything else, it was the first time that my husband has ever returned from a holiday and started to look for flights back! The house, though a bit tricky to find (look for number 9 on the free maps ) is elegant, well cared for and astonishing in its collections of furniture, paintings, photos and historical artefacts. This might seem a bit overwhelming in our minimalist world but it seems right for a house built in the 1670’s and of historic importance to the island. In fact, we originally asked for one of their newly built garden cottages which we could have occupied but were still being finished. It didn’t matter at all. We loved staying in the Royal Suite with its grand shutters and four poster bed. As well as the house, it was the staff and their attitude which was so very impressive. Mara, the housekeeper made us feel special and helped with everything, the chef produced fantastic food- fresh and delicious every day, and Celia came each day to give us yoga lessons which were perfect. As a keen swimmer, I loved the large and well run pool set in the middle of 27 acres of beautiful gardens. We were the only guests during our days there. I suspect this will not be the case for very long in this wonderful establishment! Our sincere thanks to Gabriella, the owner, for the immense attention to detail. We loved it!
