My fiance and I arrived at Buccaneer Beach Club on New Year's Eve and didn't have anything planned, fearing everything was booked up with only a few hours notice, the front desk went out of their way to find us a table at an exquisite local restaurant on the beach. This was our first taste of the extraordinary service that you receive at Buccaneer Beach Club. Over the next eight days, our holiday just got better and better and a lot of this was down to the part that the team at Buccaneer played. Every morning we would head out to the sunloungers that the charming Oscar had immaculately laid out. Being a resident of Buccaneer Beach Club helps as you have your own demarcated space on the beach that always ensures you have a comfortable sunlounger and umbrella to enjoy. Oscar runs a tight ship and makes sure that no one else from the surrounding hotels makes use of Buccaneer's sun-loungers. Additionally, he rakes the sand every few hours here to ensure that it is always well kept. Whilst this may seem unnecessary, it is an indication of the lengths that the staff at this hotel go to to ensure you are always looked after. They really are salt of the earth people who never fail to smile and greet you. It is wonderful to feel so welcome in a country that is not your own. Thank you, Oscar! Carrying on, it was one of the highlights of my life and not just the holiday to be able to walk no more than 50m from our room and enjoy the still turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The location just can't be beaten and once you've had enough of the quirks of Dickenson Bay and fancy a bit of downtime, you can head back to Buccaneer Beach Club which is behind a secure gate and hidden amongst the most breathtaking coastal foliage. As for the rooms, they are spacious and are more of a unit than a hotel room. We had a main bedroom that was really big with a fan and air conditioner. A large open plan kitchen and lounge make the holiday that much more relaxing. Both rooms have TVs in with a huge selection of channels, although we didn't watch any it was perfect for a BBC news update in the morning over a coffee before heading out to find out what this paradisal island had in store for us. Getting around the island is really easy if you haven't hired a car, the front desk will call their trusted man Edwards anytime you need a ride and he's always there within minutes. The roads aren't great and commuting does take time, but Edwards is the man to get you there in one piece. Lastly, a big thanks to hotel manager Simonetta. My first encounter with Simonetta was on my way back from the beach after a few rum cocktails, Simonetta was warm and very engaging despite the fact that I tried my hand at speaking Italian to her! A few nights later, I was at a local restaurant and heard my name called, to my surprise, Simonetta had remembered me and took the time to find out how my trip was going. You won't find a more professional or lovely hotel manager anywhere in the world. Thank you, Simonetta. Needless to say, we'll certainly be back. Best wishes, Nick Sturdee…
I stayed at the Buccaneer for 3 weeks during the Christmas season. It was my first visit but definitely not my last. I loved it.... the manager, Simonette, is so nice, friendly, efficient and welcomes you as if you're a dear guest in her home. She must have hand picked the staff because they're amazing and treat you like family. I do have to give a special shout out to Oscar and Stanley. It's a small property but very cozy, safe and extremely clean. Watching the ladies who take care of our rooms, they're so particular about "their" property and want to do whatever they can to make your stay as great as they can. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this property. I only have praise for it. Many, many thanks for such an amazing experience.
Buccaneer Beach Club is a lovely spot, great facilities and a beautiful location. The beach is idyllic and the staff never stopped smiling and couldn’t do enough for us. We loved it and will be back sometime soon.
We absolutely loved our stay at Buccaneer - so much we extended our trip another week. Right on Dickenson bay the complex is small and peaceful. Great for couples or families. Apartments contain everything you need to self cater but several very good restaurants within walking distance. All the staff were fantastic and very helpful- especially Oscar on the beach who was very attentive and kept the beach immaculate. Will definitely stay here again if we visit Antigua, after 3 weeks there it felt like home.
A lovely little piece of tranquillity down the beach from the Sandals Resort. We arrived after 8 so were checked in by the night porter into one of the spacious rooms of which there are only a small amount. There is a bedroom with comfy king size bed, plenty of storage, safe, iron & board and on the wall TV. The bathroom is also large but a little dated, shower was powerful enough and was fine. There is also a living room with a kitchenette including fridge freezer, microwave, small grill/oven, two hobs, coffee maker and kettle. All the cutlery, pots and pans are also provided. There is a large sofa and TV in the living room. There is an air conditioning unit in the bedroom and living room and they are of high quality and also really quiet. There are no glass windows but they are covered with mosquito mesh to stop the critters getting in. We had a balcony on the upstairs which was nice to sit on and read. The pool is pretty and functional, you can stand in it all the way. Access to the beach is at the bottom of the property and free sun beds are provided. Wi Fi is free throughout the property and can be accessed on the beach as well. We hired a car for our first week and there is free parking at the front. There are about 5 restaurants within walking distance, we tried them all and the only one I’d avoid is Salt Plage on the beach next to the Buccaneer (part of Siboney), otherwise Casa Roots, Ana’s, Stella and Bella Vita were all great. Can’t praise the staff enough who were polite, hard working and accommodating throughout, including the owner who was gracious enough to allow us a late check out for free due to having to move rooms to accommodate some maintenance work. It was very quiet initially when we were there but it did seem to be getting busier as we were into our second week. Hopefully tourists will return in numbers soon as the island is very dependent on this. Price wise we stopped 11 nights paying around £150 a night which for Antigua I thought was reasonable…
