wonderful B & B in beautiful area close to Hadrian's Wall. Lovely, friendly family with terrific food and the best shower in England. Stayed July 7 and 8 and would love to stay again. Enjoyed interesting discussions on a variety of topics.

It was an amazing experience to stay with Matt & Katie & family in their wonderful home. We enjoyed the privacy, the delicious home cooked meals using local and home grown/raised food, and the beautiful location. Matt's knowledge of the area and sharing interesting places to visit was fabulous and the hospitality outstanding. We just loved it there!

We fully endorse all the positive comments made by earlier reviewers. The hosts and their family were so welcoming and the attention to detail makes this a really special place. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and furnished with lovely old furniture and flowers from the garden. Apart from a large bedroom and superb bathroom, we had a dining room, sitting... Had a one night stay here and loved it. We broke our journey back south from Scotland and booked here from a direct recommendation from a friend - good advice and good decision on our part. The South room was nicely furnished, comfortable bed and lovely warm bedding - grand en-suite. Would stay again. As others have advised take the... More

Excellent, great room, fantastic dinner, friendly hosts, nice locale, and they have a golden retriever; what more could a couple of Aussies desire? Stayed two nights and it was very comfortable with the open fire. Highly recommended. Take the dinner option, you won't be disappointed.

We stayed here for two nights in early January, and we loved every moment of it. It's ideally located - near Hadrian's wall - for great walks, in a beautifully rugged and tranquil part of the world. Chapelburnn is a gorgeous house, which has been very tastefully decorated and was spotlessly clean. It was very clever how the B&B works... More

Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the very, very best B&B's I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Matt is a perfect host - genial and considerate, as well as being a really terrific cook. Much of the produce is hand reared by him so the quality is second to none. The rooms are spotless with... More

This place raises the bar for B and Bs . Many others would benefit a stay here to see how well it can be done. We were 4 friends ( 2 couples) who were walking the Wall, and stayed 2 nights . Matt and his entire family made us feel very welcome with cups of tea and space, really a... More

Hands down one of the best B&B's I've stayed in during my 20 years of travel in the UK. Matt and his family have created a spectacular little haven. I would be hard-pressed to think of an inn owner who was more personable, pleasant, and such a fantastic cook. The spacious room (The South Room) had a lovely comfortable bed... More
