The food and the service was outstanding.
Tons to do around the hotel:
There were many incredible hiking trails. You could visit local artist studios and talk to the artists. You can visit a furniture-making factory. We even played with and walked two huge Newfoundland...More

Hello Dan C.
Thank you so much for the lovely review.
You summed it up wonderfully.
There is so much to do and see and become a part of. Fogo Island is a magical place filled with, you're right, the nicest folks(even for Newfoundland) and...More
I find it always concerning to visit an hotel coming in with high expectations. This time expectations were higher than high despite all my efforts and so was my fear of disappointment.
And then we got there and going through the introduction to the hotel...More

Stunning hotel that comports with the pictures in the ads. The staff could not be more attentive or pleasant. The view of the ocean from our room was show-stopping. Food was fabulous. And, the concept, of so fully incorporating the community into the property (and...More

When I first saw an advertisement for the Fogo Island Inn, I was immediately drawn to the place - it seemed so dramatic, remote, and unique. My husband was a bit daunted by the price, but because we both love the ocean and love far-away...More

Thank you Lottie2334 for the beautiful recap of your stay with us here at the inn. I agree 100% with your three recommendations. I am so happy you enjoyed your time beside the ocean and I look forward to when our paths will cross again.
A recent visit with 12 friends, part of an electic and amazing group of 48, we took over the Inn and I just can't say enough about the warmth of the Island and Inn hospitality, drinking thimbles of Screech in Phil's cave, tasting an iceberg,...More

Right On! We are planning a special Anniversary/Birthday cruise and as costly as that is, NO Alcoholic drinks are included in that fare either...this seems to be the standard norm for high end travel. (Lucky we do not really drink.)The only place we ever went where the drinks were included was to a Sandel’s Resort in the Caribbean. Fogo Island Inn is a high priced category destination: it is a lifetime experience not to be missed: once you are already there, if you need a drink: just go ahead and buy it !

Thank you for your question. Pricing for Helicopter transfers from Gander can be obtained through the reservations team. They have assisted many of our guests with such requests and are very knowledgeable.
I don't think it really matters. The hotel does not really care what you wear. They are more concerned that you are comfortable and happy. Food there is a refined farm to table, so I do not think you need to over do it. But... More
