Love everything about this lodge. It's nestled in the rainforest so you get to have the beauty of nature all around you. The staff is A+ and their food is even better. Their restaurant is farm-to-table and is absolutely delicious. We couldn't get enough of it. 12/10 all around.
I have been booking 1-2 week stays at Luna Nueva for the past 9 years and am so impressed by their tireless commitment to improving the property, tours offered, and expanding the regenerative farming program, etc. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful. It is apparent that they love working at Luna Nueva. In February,2020, I was able to be in the new air-crete dome for a week. It is gorgeous and luxurious. They situated it on the property to face the rainforest, so it feels like you are the only people there. There are plenty of lights in the all white domes for the evening, as well as outside, and the 1/2 dozen sets of French doors that open onto the outside patio area lets in not only light, but air flow, through the screens. The spacious bathroom is a full dome, and the shower looks into the rainforest (well, you’re surrounded by it). It is also just a few steps away from the yoga palapa where you can either meditate, practice yoga, or bird watch. The food is delicious and there is a cafe for coffee, tea, smoothies, juices & snacks during the day, and a bar in the evening. There are always very interesting people doing great things in the World who seek out Luna Nueva, so there is always an educational and fascinating conversation happening. The people in reception will happily arrange and book any trip or outing that you would like and also give suggestions in your are unsure about what is available. I would suggest taking several, if not all, of the tours that they have at Luna Nueva. They are all so interesting and fun! The guides are all highly educated and you’ll see and learn so much about Costa Rica and your surroundings. I can’t wait to return!…
Despite the unpredictability of Covid, we made it to Costa Rica and as a result, had Finca Luna almost to ourselves. Despite the rain, the lodge is beautiful and the staff incredibly kind. With delicious food we were well looked after and looked forward to the yummy creations that Brian and Anthony carefully prepared us! The waiting staff were lovely too and happily chatted to us giving us advice on where to explore and see. Danny, the lead at Reception was the icing on the cake - he couldn't have been kinder or more helpful - taking time to show us the Sloth's, Green Macaws and Toucans that frequent Finca Luna. We would highly recommend the public thermal springs (which are free), the Hanging Bridges nearby and the extremely interesting chocolate tour run at Finca Luna. For local, yummy food do try the Red Frog Soda. Thank you Finca Luna Nueva for a very happy stay, we hope 2021 is kinder to you. Pura Vida!…
We were given a very friendly welcome . Our spacious room was one of 4 on the first floor of a large square wooden building. The 4 rooms were situated on the corners so each room had 2 outside walls with windows on each side and 2 partition walls. Some sounds from neighbours could be heard but this was never a problem for us. We had a flyscreen, aircon and a ceiling fan. Outside the door there was a large veranda which ran all the way around the building with seating & tables and a hammocks . It was a wonderful situation for bird and wildlife watching of which there was plenty to see, and hear. There was a short walk to the restaurant and super fairly large swimming pool. The pool was open for long hours each day so it was wonderful to have a swim before breakfast. We were on a bed & breakfast basis; the buffet breakfast was superb with fabulous kefir yogurt too and lots of organic dishes to try. The menu varied for lunch and evening meals and there was a reasonable choice with the majority of all the food being produced and/or grown on the Finca/Farm. In the evening the restaurant/bar was very cosy and relaxing with plenty of opportunity to chat with other guests or find somewhere quiet. All the staff were very friendly and those giving tours were passionate about sustainability and regenerative farming. There was a very interesting educational Tour of the Finca. I recommend the Chocolate tour which includes seeing and identifying different cacao tree species, hearing about the history of chocolate with tastings and making your own chocolates which are given to you in the evening or the next day. Each tour we undertook was excellent and we were lucky that on each of our tours there was only 4 or 5 so lots of opportunity to ask questions. We explored one of the trails unaccompanied and on the way met some gardeners who were only too happy to point out a sleeping sloth which we would never have spotted without their help. We were, by this time, just into our 2nd week of our 3 week holiday and had stayed at 4 other places and this was our second favourite place and by the time we came to the end of our holiday after stating in 3 more places, the Finca Nueva Nueva Lodge remained my second favourite place. We had the best sighting of a sloth here, only a few metres away from us , a mother sloth with a baby climbed part way down a tree and stretched across , facing us, to access another tree. I found the whole experience at the Finca very relaxing, we only stayed 3 nights and loved it and would love to return one day.…
Staying at Finca Luna Nuevo Lodge is a learning experience every human should experience. It's an opportunity to observe regenerative farming, sustainable living while relaxing in a tranquil environment. The programs are fun and informative, and the work being done here is exactly what our planet needs.
