My husband and I visited Ireland from 9/8 to 9/18. We landed in Dublin at 5:30AM and were thrown into rush hour traffic driving on the other side of the road, sitting on the opposite side of the car. Came off the motorway at Tyrellspass, one sick child, one hungry child and a thirsty husband. Enjoyed a delicious home cooked dinner, booked a room which was basic but spotless, good craic in the bar that evening, decided not to go any further and stayed another night bringing children to nearby Mullingar to enjoy Belvedere park, shopping etc. Had a... Now under new management I cannot but recommend the Village Inn. For a measly 25 euro each we got a clean room and a good nights sleep before heading on our way. The breakfast was fine and there was plenty of it. Sure it's not the finest hotel on the island of Ireland but the owners are friendly, the bar... More

On the return drive to Dublin from Galway (about 175KM) there are no service stations,but pull off the road at Tyrellspass and head for the Village Hotel and the best all day breakfast you will find.The staff were great and the service was quick and friendly. And the price was pretty good too!

stayed in this hotel for one night,the non smoking room was full of stale smoke smell.There was no hot water for a shower,the shampoo/shower gel container was empty. But the worst was on the duvet cover,ther was dried in blood on it.I looked for the manager to complain,but after a letter and 6 phone calls, still no reply. Awful Awful... More
