Not our first experience at Makaranga but our worst- booked a table for a family lunch on a public holiday and the wait began.... excuse was that a big table had ordered ahead of us but in the end we waited an hour and a half for our food ( pizza, chops and burgers) which was really unacceptable, Delicious pizza,...

We have just got back from a visit to the makaranga garden lodge, WOW. Beautiful. We have been with our son who is confined to a wheelchair. The rooms are very big and accessible. We have to use a hoist with my son and the hoist wouldn't fit under the bed, not a problem the owners were on it straight...

This garden lodge is definitely worth a visit. We stayed in an executive room in the newer part of the hotel. The room was huge, as was the bed, and it opened out onto a lovely verandah overlooking the magnificent gardens. The bathroom was well appointed and also very big. We had a very good breakfast in the dining room...

We were very fortunate to stay two nights over a busy Easter weekend. The food was brilliant and service on top form. The room was very large and super comfortable finished with the little details. You must try there bakery treats. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back soon.

Owned by a Charitable Trust, this luxury hotel puts customer satisfaction before profit. The 32 acres are immaculately maintained by a staff of 23 gardeners. Situated just outside Durban, you enter a different world. All the rooms are luxurious, particularly rooms 20 and 29, the two Presidential Suites. Gourmet food and good wines all at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, we were...

I've passed the sign for this lodge many times over the years, and finally had the opportunity to stay over when we booked a business conference there - it was the perfect spot! Admit I think I had one of the rooms on the newer end, not sure what the others are like - it was huge and luxurious, large...
