The pluses: very close to the ferry station, beautiful gardens, awesome pool, friendly service. Air conditioning, wifi, and cable in all rooms. Minuses: rooms were small, dark, bathrooms very tight. No hot water. Our bathroom had no ventilation other than the door to the room. Our room was also next to the kitchen and was noisy starting at 6 am. The breakfast was not memorable. Overall good place to explore the island. My 8 year old daughter loved the pool and the parrots.
I would only really use this place if you aren't on the island for long or if you need an early ferry - the town by the port is actually one of the better parts of the island in terms of places to eat but the main tourist attractions are the other side of the island. We stayed here due to the boats not running after the tropical storm that wiped out the power and caused a lot of mayhem on the mainland. We were a group of 8 so the set up of this hotel is perfect (rooms with more than 3 double beds in etc) and we only paid $8 a night. The power soon came back so I really couldn't complain about what we got for our money (having paid $10 a night for worse places elsewhere on the island) The only issue was that the shower flooded, we were also unfortunately unable to make use of the pool due to the storm turning it green. I found the staff to be kind and helpful and the facilities overall to be ok (comfy beds which is always a winner) …
I stayed 3 nights in a private room (they only have private rooms). The room and the bathroom were clean, the bed was confortable, and the towels were included. However, there is no kitchen, only a restaurant. The portions are small, the food is ok and a bit expensive. The staff was nice enough. The wifi was spotty. There are nice hammocks were you can chill and a pool. The hotel has a nice location, 5 minute walk from restaurants and banks.
The island is enchanting, great nature experiences-- and this hotel is just one block away from the ferry terminal so it's very convenient. We stayed just one night but the ease of travel made it well worth it!
Bathroom and shower was really gross we kept our flip flops on the whole time, bugs coming out of the drains. The pillows were moldy and sheets had stains. The pool was the only good thing but even that looked neglected and needed a clean. Good location close to the ferry and cheap
Stayed here between Christmas and New Year for 4 days as a base to explore Ometepe.... Staff were very friendly and helpful, nice rooms and a great location being close to the ferry and at the bottom of Myogalpa town. This place has lots of pre Colombian pieces dotted around lots of hammocks a nice pool and restaurant, just what we needed for a short stay base from which to explore the island. The only criticism would be the rooms need a lick of paint and a general tidy up!
We stayed at Hotel Ometeptl for 3 nights in November. The staff did not speak English but they were very helpful and with our tourist knowledge of Spanish we got along fine. The room included air conditioning, and WiFi, was clean and comfortable, with good bathroom and nice large shower. There was also a restaurant which had great menu.We had booked our breakfast in advance but would not suggest that because the menu prices were considerably less expensive than the prebooked price. A nice pool and garden was on the property which we made good use of. Oh yes, this hotel is only probably a hundred years from the ferry so you can walk to it.We were never required to pay in advance of our arrival, however,we were asked for full payment upon arrival. Also the staff were very good in finding us a tour driver for a competitive price, however, depending upon what you want to do there are many tour agencies just a short walk up the street. Over all this hotel was convenient, had great service, clean and very nice. We would rate it 4 our of 5 as a good budget hotel.…
We traveled with a large group to this tropical island. I really enjoyed the out door, covered dining area and veranda with comfy chairs and hammocks to relax and catch a nap or have a good chat! Our room was not fancy but clean with adequate, functioning bathroom facility. The air conditioner was welcomed - actually a little too cold. The season we were there allowed us to turn it off and use the oscillating fan. We had a good night's sleep. The owners are lovely with a heart to serve and accommodate. Staff was also friendly and helpful. The property is surrounded by tropical plants, trees and flowers. It is very close to the ferry and easy access to shops and restaurants on the main street.
The hotel you find very near to the boatlanding. At the right side of the road. The rooms are clean and big enough. Like most hotels the showers are cold. Compared price / quality a very good hotel. Restaurant prices are also competative to other restaurants. The big advantage is the swimmingpool.
Stayed here with a tour group of 18 people. The motel is very centrally located and is also less than 5 minutes walking distance from the ferry terminal. The rooms were clean, reasonably sized and the aircon worked. The water did not work for half a day but this was due to a fault out in the street and the motel staff kept us updated. The motel is nice and quiet, apart from the occasional outbust from the resident parrot. Nice pool. There were no issues expressed by other tour members.
