This was our second stay at the very beautiful Sublime Cómporta, a property so steeped in the concept of sustainability that even the loo rolls are made of recycled material. It has a stunning edible garden, a brand new eco lake around which they have built lodges with the highest green specifications. The staff work hard to make the guest experience the best it can be...the middle grade, charming and hard working customer-facing staff, that is.... Because behind the scenes, something very weird is going on here. Before arrival we were emailed to be told that the hotel would be hosting an ‘international event’ but that the disruption would be kept to the absolute minimum. We arrived last Thursday 3 October to be greeting with massive blue Peugeot banners at the gates of the hotel. Peugeot staff absolutely everywhere blocking customer car circulation around the hotel parking areas, with much parking fenced off and out of use. Two new Peugeot vehicles with all their lights on 24h a day were parked on the main hotel terrace, together with a massive Peugeot silver lion parked prominently outside the bar area. Peugeot seemed to have invited half of Portugal to a new vehicle launch, which we inadvertently had found ourselves in the middle of whilst trying to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were barred from access to the main hotel restaurant and main hotel bar, instead being shunted to the old hotel bar and restaurant as second class citizens during this period. Despite asking both on Thursday night and again this morning before checking out to speak to senior management, nobody higher than the F&B manager took the time to apologise for the chaos and intrusion that Peugeot had caused to the ambiance of the hotel, nor explain to us (and this is the key point) what on earth a hotel with a USP based on a solidly environmental and sustainability-oriented theme was doing selling out to the pétrodollar and hosting a razzy snazzy Peugeot press launch over a period of ten days. Seriously guys, you couldn’t have got it more wrong. And before you come back and say that we should have talked to you at the hotel before writing a TripAdvisor review, then understand that we tried. We REALLY tried. But you didn’t want to talk to us. So here’s the review in public instead. A word of advice to Sublime’s senior management: the hypocrisy you’ve shown this weekend was utterly breathtaking. If you want your regular, loyal clients to come back, stop your greedy and unnecessary flirtations with companies like Peugeot. Stop it soon. Because it doesn’t work and it doesn’t fit. And if you upset loyal guests in your quest to grab Peugeot’s cash, at least do the right thing and meet your guests to apologise for such a strategic error. At least the kids staying at the hotel had fun climbing on the Peugeot silver lion parked outside the bar...when the over-fussy Peugeot staff weren’t guarding it with their lives! Silver linings during a very cloudy visit.…
A friend and I stayed at Sublime for a couple of nights. The hotel and grounds are special - very sophisticated. Gorgeous decor. The beds and linen were...well, sublime and our room was blissfully quiet. Our breakfast the next morning was great too - extensive and varied. But there were some small annoyances which is a shame when it’s a high-end hotel. Eg - a very open plan style bathroom within the bedroom but the toilet door didn’t shut properly - no plug socket next to a mirror, so hair drying in front of a mirror is impossible - no full length mirror - no pool service for drinks - and 15 Euro for a small jar of jellybeans!!! You know when you feel like you’re being ripped off...!!! Also, we completed pre-check in paperwork and requested a kettle in the room but this was forgotten. On the plus side, concierge booked restaurants and cabs for us and everyone was very friendly. Almost sublime but not quite. …
My wife and I stayed recently and were both very impressed with Sublime. The staff were excellent, polite and spoke very good English. We had dinner and breakfast which was stunning and used the spa and pool. Our accommodation was great too. Very quiet and we came away very relaxed and will definitely be back. …
I had heard a lot of people talking about Sublime for a few years now and was a little worried it wouldn't live up to expectations. However, it surpassed them and we were quite sad to leave!! We had a great 2 night stay in one of their 2 bedroom villas. The rooms were AMAZING!! Huge, beautiful, great beds, and amazing toiletries. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous and well worth the trip. The food, service, and spa all added to our stay and made this one of our favorite stops. Plus Comporta beaches are stunning. Definitely go if you can!!…
Stayed at the Sublime Comporta for 3 nights September 2019, and we totally loved our stay there.. We had one of the bigger Cabana rooms facing the forest which I suggest as the smaller ones are very tight...Beautiful grounds, wonderful staff... I truly beautiful experience... Comporta has endless stunning beaches.... A great hidden gem...…
