I visited the Castle Dargan hotel in June with a friend, the first weekend the hotels were open again after lockdown. Our room was nice and spacious, the grounds of the hotel were lovely for a stroll and the food we got each night over the course of our 3 night stay was delicious. Some areas of improvement would be the morning breakfast. The scone we got on the first morning was hard and no fruit scones or pastries were available the second and third morning despite being on the menu. The eggs Benedict and French toast carried an additional cost. There was also no cocktail menu available. However, the staff were very friendly and attentive over the course of your stay and overall we enjoyed our staycation at the Castle Dargan hotel.
I am still at Castle Dargan as I type, relaxing in my beautiful and quiet room after a wonderful breakfast. This hotel is run with efficiency by dedicated staff, all approachable and generous with their time. Dinner was excellent and the dining room tables are spaced out really well due to Covid, the hotel is well maintained and the carpet in our room was brand new.... Great stay and very reasonably priced, I will be back for sure.
We visited the hotel at the weekend and it was absolutely perfect. From the minute we walked in the door we were greeted by the most lovely front of house staff. From that moment everything was excellent gor yhe during our stay. All the staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and efficient and the food was mouth watering. The hotel was spotless with a lovely outdoor patio to relax and enjoy a drink in the sunshine.I was lucky enough to leave time to enjoy the spa treatments before I left and it was so lovely and relaxing. Well done to everyone at the castle Dargan. I will be back very soon.
Stayed here with my husband for a quiet night in September. They had a good set up for Covid safety and check-in was prompt - although I would suggest that the reception staff perhaps give more information, e.g., state what time breakfast is, and where, basic info. The bedroom was sparse, but then again, with Covid, there shouldn't be any clutter so I can look past that. The TV was old/small for the size of the room, too small to watch when in bed. with my eyesight! The grout in bath really needed to be re-done, I never like to see that in a hotel. The bed was large and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant during our stay which was the highlight. The food was excellent and the service was very good, all staff following good hand sanitising and social distancing from what I could see. The 'internal' restaurant room had no atmosphere what so ever and also, in my opinion, needed a lick of paint when you looked up to the ceiling/roof windows. Have to say I was disappointed. It does advertise as a luxury hotel in Sligo, in my opinion, this is not the case. Again, in my opinion comparing it to other hotels in Ireland and across Europe, its a basic 3 star in need of re-decoration. Pity. I would have been more annoyed had I paid more. I completely understand that they are trying to keep afloat in a pandemic, I hope that they do, but with guests choosing carefully where to go for a short stay, it is not (in my opinion) the luxury stay that i had hoped. Sorry. …
Myself and my husband had planned to stay here for our 22nd anniversary but when we were arrived the bedroom was nothing like the pictures online the room was awful, the bed looked like it needed replacing badly and the wardrobe was falling apart, we refused to stay, I wouldn't of payed €5 for this it was so bad.. How this place is supposedly 4 star is a joke..
