We spent a night at the hotel and were lucky to have enjoyed all the amenities they offered. The bus shuttle to Lugano cbd was a great service. The spa offered several choices such as sauna, Turkish hammam, steamy bath, jacuzzi or indoor pool. The outdoor pool area is just stunning and we loved soaking up the sun in front of the serene lake. Staff were exceptionally professional and helpful. Our room on the 4th floor had a fantastic view of the lake. Definitely a wonderful place to kick back and relax.
We had a fantastic night at the hotel. The room was impressive. We used the free shuttle service to go to Lugano City Center so we didn’t have to worry about parking. It was very handy. In the afternoon we went to the spa of the hotel which was excellent. The outdoor area in front of the lake is spectacular and the pool temperature was just perfect. The staff were very friendly yet professional. Highly recommended for a luxurious and relaxing getaway.
I couldn’t choose a better place to stay during my Christmas Break, It’s really near to the center of Lugano (only 8 minutes). The room was not only very clean and with all the supplies but also an amazing view on the lake which is absolutely marvellous. The staff, in particular the receptionists, housekeeping and food and beverage. I will definitely come back this summer!
First of all a little about us. We have enjoyed Mykonos, Miami, LA, Mexico, Dubai, Atacama in Chile, Safari in South Africa. And that's just in the last 5 years. We mostly stay in Leading Hotels of the World, we've also stayed in at least 10 other Swiss Luxury hotels and eaten enjoy great food and wine, having eaten at Eleven Madison Park and Anne Sophie Pic. All this to say that we have high expectations. .. And for 10 years, every year we have chosen to stay at the Swiss diamond in Morcote. My family fly in from London to join us. This place is like a fine wine. It get's better every year. The location is a peaceful little haven but this is not what we love. It's the people. You get to make smalltalk with the staff who are allowed to show their personality and let's face it, after 2020 we all need abit of love and HUMAN contact. FOODIES: The Lago restaurant is serving up some fantastic food (try the fish oven baked in salt from the sea and save room for the deserts too. If you are on a KETO diet like me, mention a word to Franco and he will take care of everything. WINE Ask Sergio to help explore some of the local wines, I usually stick to French but was pleasantly surprised. The list is quite extensive and the prices are very reasonable. ADVENTURE Call Margherita who is Guest Relations QUEEN. She organised a fine restaurant up in the hills working with local produce and had them collect us and drop us of, for free. PARTY Ask Bini for great clubs in the city or indeed, have a private party on his boat in the middle of the lake. Champagne, Prosecco, Music, Piadina's at 2am yes yes yes. SPA Simona gave me a foot pedicure that sent me to sleep. SPIRITUAL Or just hang by the pool, jump in the 22 degree lake and meditate. CULTURE Walk down into the village, we love the family restaurant Barcaioli that is making an awesome lasagne priced at $19 and a risotto made in Gran Padana. It's amazing value. SHOPPING 70% off Gucci. Yes. Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger, Armani, Hugo Boss, whatever you like and then head over to Samsonite for a half price suitcase to carry it all. A holiday you'll never forget. Be nice to everyone and feel the love. You can't buy that.…
We chose a deluxe room for 3 people with a view of the lake. Upon arrival we were unfortunately placed in a room on the 1st floor with a view of the road and parking lot (lake in the background), the 3rd bed provided was a sofa bed with a very very basic mattress/sleeping pad. If you had known that "lake view" meant "road and parking view", our decision would have been different. We were woken up very early (5-6am) by deliveries/cars in front of our window... a bit disappointing for a 5 stars hotel with a room costing more than CHF 500.00 per night. We insisted on changing our room and then fortunately moved to the 3rd floor for the next 2 nights, which changed our guest experience considerably positively.. Rooms on the first floor should not be offered to guests or should be offered at a much lower price and with knowledge (which was not our case...). The hotel should also check the quality of its equipement (5stars!): one of the light didn't work and the sink was clogged.. Otherwise, the location is absolutely wonderful and the restaurant, as well as the bar, is very nice. We could appreciate the piano bar atmosphere with cocktails and beautiful view on the lake. The spa is also very nice.…
So, this is a fabulous location. Just outside Lugano, on the water and near the fabulous village of Morcote. The hotel feels old. Breakfast dining room was uninspiring, buffet approach was all wrong for COVID times - no gloves. Main dining was a bit of a let down - food good, service so, so and v. expensive. Super bar with oriental theme and a live piano player. Pretty good private spa. But and it is a big one, the massage rooms were not quiet enough and there was too much light.
We spent four days in May at the hotel, it was pretty much booked out and thus we only got one of the smaller lake-view rooms in the main building that didn't have a balcony. If I would have had an option, I would have gone for one of the bigger ones, or for a room directly at the lake. Due to Covid restrictions, we had dinner at their lake restaurant. It is pricey, but well worth the money. Service was excellent, as generally in the hotel. Staff tried to remember your name and preferences and did their very best to make you comfortable. There is an hourly shuttle bus into downtown Lugano and Morcote (a beautiful village) can be reached by foot in 20 minutes. This makes the location optimal if you want to take a rest, hike up the hills, or have a car to do trips. I would rate the place a four star, the breakfast is very good, but in a room that lacks ambience and can be noisy. The outside pool and recreation area are wonderful, the inside pool and sauna a bit dark.…
We spent our wedding anniversary in this wonderful place on the lake, the view is breathtaking the super friendly staff and the atmosphere is relaxed, we had dinner at the lakeside restaurant and the quality of the food was great the service very friendly. we'll be back
Really nice staff (a bit to present by today standards Clean room, nice spaces, but definitely need a renovation. Breakfast is casual for this kind of hotels. No coffee in the room ? emplacement and view are perfect. A great place but definitely not a 5 stars (beside the price)
As novelist you sometimes need to find refuge to recharge and enjoy life. The Swiss Diamond is the perfect place to do so. Sitting besides the pool, seeing the mosaic leaf shimmer through the crystal blue water, sipping a glass of Prosecco to cool off - we loved it! The rooms have everything you could ask for. Opening up the curtains in the morning to enjoy the lake view or sitting on the balcony before dinner to read some Bertrand Russel - What a lovely place - thanks to the entire staff making our stay truly unforgettable!
