On the plus side it is practical as an overnight stop on the motorway. The rooms are a good size and it was comfortable enough, but the room was fundamentally dirty. The floor was not swept anywhere other than in front of the bed and...More

Forget satnav - just look for the 'Salida 90' turn off and look for the big sign - on south bound side, so if heading north turn off and cross over bridge, look...More
First of all our satnav did not locate the motel using the postcode given. So although the place is just off of the motorway we went round in circles for 30mins.
When we arrived there was no one in the reception lodge ( it was...More

Hi Stan. The gates I think are open all the time BUT your vehicle is parked right outside your cabin. Obviously I take it you have security alarm so if anything where to happen you are but 20 paces from your vehicle. I have done the trip many times and I know it is in the back of your mind you have to be careful but I would say this is as secure a spot as most. I would imagine for your peace of mind if you asked that the gates be shut they would certainly attempt to accommodate unless someone had a real early start. My estate was full of valuables for our 6 months down here and it is one of the best places we have used. Take care at filling stations and cafes is my advice too. If anyone pulled you over keep everything locked and if they tap on your window hold up your phone and stay put. I have a sign made saying "Guardia have been called". It is rare but friendly advice. Finally at San Idro I would tell them your concerns as they have their own bit of parking behind the outbuildings. Sorry to be long winded but I think all info helps especially if it is your first trip down. Enjoy!
