Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Had Sunday lunch here today. Local to the area and have dined here many times both in restaurant and for bar food. Food is always good.
However, today on arriving to hotel for lunch, was informed that they didnt have high chairs for babies/toddlers. Rationale was due to current covid19 pandemic. Only for I was with grandparents, I would have left with my kids.

We have ate in all the local restaurants since reopening in July and have stayed in hotels around Ireland. But this was a first. Surely if you are sanitizing the tables and chairs in the restaurant/bar after each use why couldn't a high chair be treated the same?
We weren't informed of this on booking when stated we would have a 3 year old and 8month old dining.
Really disappointing as food was excellent. But trying to feed a lively 8month old in a car seat was a disaster.

Unfortunately will not be dining again because of this.

We spent two nights here in August 2021, a group of 8 adults and 3 children. The hotel is well laid out with regard to Covid restrictions, mask wearing was necessary in all public areas of the hotel and hand sanitiser was widely available.
Our rooms were all very clean, the beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless. I think they have been recently renovated, with new tiling, sanitary wear and showers.
The food was excellent across the board, dinner (we ate in both the bar and the restaurant) and breakfast were all very tasty. Our first night was a family reunion/80th birthday and the service we received was excellent, prompt and very welcoming. We had similar service the following evening in the bar. Christopher and Richie were fantastic in particular.
We would definitely visit again, a lovely hotel in a stunning location. We made some lovely memories here :)

We booked two rooms, one room with a baby to attend a nearby wedding. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a room ready early that day. The staff throughout the hotel could not have done more to make our stay with a small baby as easy as possible.

The rooms themselves were in need of updating and some maintenance. White wear in the bathrooms cracked and although I can't fault the cleanliness it looked a little shabby.

To note there is no elevator or ground floor rooms if you are travelling with small children. This was an issue for us with a pram and someone with reduced mobility. Again the staff were helpful in offering to carry the pram up and down the stairs

The hotel is in beautiful surroundings and you cannot fault it for the price.

Set in the Glen of Aherlow, you wake up to a lovely view and access to hiking trails in the forest. Unfortunately, this is little consolation when nothing works. No heating and no hot water, for starters. I had to ask the staff to give me an electric plug-in heater since I wasn't in the mood to change room at 10pm. To be fair, I was given a partial refund which was appreciated, but the experience was still pretty terrible.

Other issues include: no lift (going up the stairs with heavy luggage is not fun), no WiFi in the breakfast room (although it's OK in the room), and a very limited time window (around a couple of hours) for check-in. When I arrived, even within that time window, there was no receptionist and I had to get someone from the bar to check in. Not exactly a warm welcome.

Another thing: separate hot and cold water taps... something still very common in Ireland. Typically you would need to choose whether to freeze or burn your hands. In this case, since there was no hot water, having separate taps made even less sense.

Dinner was nice (both the food and the setting) and I can't complain about the breakfast either.

We are currently staying one of the lodges that certainly was not cleaned before we arrived. Stains on Al surfaces, the table even had grevy and salt still on it from the previous tennents. The oven was a filthy, windows hadn't been cleaned and cobwebs everywhere. Every plate, cup, glass, knife and fork needed to be washed before use. I didn't complain to the manager as I felt after a previous conversation with her in relation to my booking my complaint would fall on deaf ears,
The location and food are fantastic but overall its not worth the money.

We’ve been to this property multiple times and each time is better than the last! The staff, food and views are all incredible. We stayed in room 103 and it was spotless and had the most stunning view of the Galtee mountain range, would highly recommend requesting a front facing room. The lady at reception was just lovely! So kind and well informed about the area, I think her name could have been Alex, huge asset to the team. The hotel is a great base for many walking trails with maps sold at reception, our favourite being the looped trail that starts at the hotels car park. We dined at the hotel bar both evenings and were not disappointed, we were served by a kind gentleman who I’d assume is the manager, didn’t quite catch his name. It’s safe to say we will most definitely be back 👍

Lovely hotel, in a beautiful location with stunning views, its as if you are in the Swiss Alps.
Good satisfactory rooms with all the basics. If the rooms were to be modernised, you would have a really fantastic getaway hotel.
Nice walking trails on property and near by.
Tasty food in the bar, great old portion sizes at a very reasonable price. Well worth a visit for lunch or dinner alone. Will definitely be returning

We stayed 1 night here myself my husband and my 4 year old. My positives: the views are absolutely stunning, there are some beautiful near by walks ranging from 2km -11km, the service was wonderful I couldn't fault the staff they were all so friendly and welcoming, the food in the bar was fantastic we had the beef, the steak and goujons all were gorgeous! My negetives: the rooms were outdated, we had a basic room where the view on both windows was of a wall, the spoons at the tea and coffee tray were also dirty (must say the rest of the room was clean and provided soap, shower Gels and shampoo) the breakfast was just OK, the toaster was broken on one side so the wait for toast was long, we made our own coffee from a machine which was fine but overall taking these things into consideration I felt it was overpriced. Would stay again all the same due to the location and the staff.

Giving a one star would give a 0 if possible, very dated, very untidy and unclean previous guests mess still evident throughout our stay. damaged furnishings and a lot of broken objects throughout logde, chalk scribbles all over fireplace and pen marks stabbed into lockers. toilet seats were lose and dirty. there were lot of overgrown weeds and cobwebs outside the lodge and bolts were missing on balcony very dangerous. Bed was shocking as it was very worn and falling apart very uncomfortable. No welcome package when spending over 300 hundred euro for 2 nights. When booking I requested early check in which they said they could accommodate at 1 o'clock but actually when checking in we had to wait an hour over check in time which 4pm.
Needs a lot of work to get a good standard rating wouldn't recommend to anyone please look elsewhere as not like pictures they were very deceiving.
