We are not infrequent visitors to this area but usually stay with friends. This time that wasn't an option so having been to the Baron previously for meals we decided that it would make a good base for this 'excursion'. The room was clean, smart and modern (in an old barn sort of way). The staff are welcoming, happy &...

Thanks for your review - we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We are lucky to have fantastic countryside all around and MTB tracks are available in many of the local woods. There are trails straight up the hill from the Baron linking moderate, difficult and extreme trails in nearby Hopton Woods with regular competitions and uplift days... Not...

Three adults and one child, booked for roast beef Sunday lunch, food was absolutely delicious and desert was just as good. Definitely will be back again in the near future. 😀 also played a few games of pool 🎱 after to help the food down 😉

Thanks for the review. We're glad you enjoyed your roast beef and thought it was delicious -it's the creamed cabbage... It's our secret weapon!

Spent a lovely couple of nights in this fabulous hotel. Nothing was too much trouble from the start. Owners were friendly and informative, rooms were comfortable and absolutely spotless. Well stocked tea and coffee tray - large bottle of local water, biscuits and bars of hand-made chocolate 😋. All meals were delicious- local produce, beautifully prepared. Great base for exploring...

A very good country pub with an excellent little restaurant. The waitresses were attentive friendly and polite. We hadn't booked but they found us a table and served us up a very tasty meal. I opted for the steak burger which was succulent and served in an artisan bread roll with salad and accompanied by a dish of home made...

A little jewel. Given that Bucknell is off the beaten track the menu selection was fantastic and the cooking/presentation could not be faulted. All at a reasonable price in a beautiful setting. Definitely worth a visit - just sorry we didn't stay the night.

As said this is our 6th stay and Phil and his team have yet again pulled out all the stops, the food was again of the usual high quality and the campsite remains to be well tended with the grass kept at a sensible height. If anything the loo facilities could be improved but saying that they certaily won't stop...

Stayed at the Baron last night in the most beautiful room with every facility you could possibly need. The food was excellently well presented and homemade freshly. We all thoroughly enjoyed our choices. Breakfast was outstanding with everything being sourced locally and/or homemade - homemade granola was amazing. The Baron is situated in an idyllic peaceful spot with spectacular views...

Stayed here August bank holiday weekend. Can only reiterate what others have said in terms of friendly staff, excellent food, great quiet location with lovely views, one thing I would disagree with is those who say it's home from home, it's not.... it's what you wish your home would be!! The place is kept spotlessly clean, the bedroom (5 with...

My wife and I spent 5 nights there in room number 5. Breakfast was great. Service superb. Owners nice. Local's were entertaining. Enjoyed walking on the footpaths. Going into town and the pop-up cafe at the church. Good selection of real ales which is a must in my book. Dinner was good too. This is a great base when exploring...
