We stayed 2 nights in the Elk Mountain Campground and were very pleased with our experience. Most of the sites are pretty secluded (for a campground) and it wasn't very crowded (as we hear is typical of this park). Camp fees were very reasonable ($18+ donation for firewood) and the camp hosts came by each morning to say hello, check... More

Very nice campground... No trailer hookups, but that is ok! Shaded sites for tents... Very spacious. Close to the Wind Cave and Jewel Cave attractions. Park host and hostess were exceptional! Please follow park rules when approaching wild bison!! They can be unpredictable!

I know we were coming just before the summer rush, but this was the most pleasant stay we had. It was just uncrowded enough that we had space, but people near by for security. The camp hosts were nice and talked to my daughter for a few minutes about their cats :) The site had a perfectly fine vault toilet... More

I stayed at Elk Mountain Campground. Large and flat sites. Very quiet. Officially closed but pit toilet was available. Only one loop was open. Bison were always just outside the campground on our way to wind cave or other attractions. Very convenient to other attractions in the area. There was an explosion of western conifer seed beetles that invaded my... More

We got to park just before last tour. After our cave tour we went and found lots of sites to chose from. Ranger told us they never fill. I suppose most people go to Custer State Park. I would of but it was late and I was tired. Saw some deer come into campground around dusk

This is a campsite within the Wind Caves National Park. We arrived around noon on Thursday July 30 and no problems finding a site. Most of these sites are geared towards RVs and campers but my family was tent camping. Many of the sites aren't level but there are a few here and there. There's also a few sites that... More

We stayed here from Thursday night through Sunday morning. We camped in tents in loop A. All of the camp sites seemed spacious and well taken care of. There are level areas of gravel for pitching tents and a picnic table and a fire pit with a grate. I would have preferred a level grassy area for the tents but... More

For some reason this jewel of the campground is not used much. We were there in the middle of June and it wasn't even half full. Flush toilets and running water in the bath houses. Several loop roads so you are not on top of everyone. Nice scenery. Trees to block sun and wind. Small hiking path around the site.... More

Recently took a trip to the black hills and had never been to Wind Cave before. Toured the cave and since it was the off season and with our national parks pass camping was only $2.50! Only one loop is open this time of year but still nice location right in the middle of the park, couldn't be better. Woke... More

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. There are no showers but the restrooms are clean and with flush toilets. We enjoyed staying in the beautiful mixed grasslands of the prairies, watching the stars and enjoying the ranger led programmes at night. Would definitely stay here again.
