My wife and I visited during the long Veteran's Day weekend. Let me start by saying it's a 2+ hour drive from Kona airport to KMC. The camp (I can't bring myself to say resort), is located inside the National Park. If you are not...More
I liked the idea of having a cottage. We planned our trip to the Big Island for our 7 year old son who loves Volcanos! So we thought this location was perfect. KMC would have been a good location if it were clean! Our cottage...More

KVMC is on southwest corner of island and Hilo airport is pretty close (30-45mins). There were a lot of attractions on other side of the island near Kona but the drive to Kona from KVMC was pretty far, I believe 3 hours. So when we stayed 4 days, we did not sightsee on Kona side. However, we had an 8 month old with us and that stopped us from driving. If we didn’t have a kid I would have made the drive to the other side of the island.
