Have stayed at Kmc six times and always enjoyed. The resort is 100 years old but the facilities are kept up within historical guidelines. Comfortable rooms and nice recreation amenities. Food is provided in a dining room along with a bowlin alley snack bar. As a 24 year retiree, I am proud of this facility.

Visited the bowling alley with friends and family. Small bowling alley that is dated but that does not keep you from having fun. Can be a very busy place. Is open to the general public so it is well used by locals. Try to avoid the weekend evening hours

As a British veteran I am very conscious of the privilege of using KMC. It is brilliantly placed in the National Park and we have just finished a visit here, 15 years since the last one. I would say in general things have improved over time and we were pretty impressed with the deal. The 2bed cabin was spacious and...

Didn't stay here but spent a couple of hours 'enjoying' the facilities while waiting for our tour to commence. Facilities are very dated, food is terrible and the whole place seems to be slowly decaying and falling apart. I am very happy that we were staying elsewhere.

Had stayed at KMC many years ago (1983 - 1986) and loved this place. Returned in 2016 for 5 nights and not much has changed. Wonderful little cabins in Volcano's National Park. We had a 1 bedroom with bath, fireplace and a beautiful "glow" of the volcano each night. There is a well stocked P.X on site, Laundry room, game...

This place was recommended by a friend when I told them we were heading to the big island. It's a real nice place to stay/visit if you are military (active/retired/reserve) and/or a veteran. A rather large complex with loads of cottages in various sizes, a cafe, coffee shop, bowling, outdoor recreation, tours, etc. Located inside the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park,...

This is a Military Recreation Area within Hawaii Volcanoes NP and the location is beautiful. We are retired military and often take advantage of the facilities offered (cafe, general store, bar, etc.) but find the lodging more expensive than staying just outside the park.

The awesome pictures you see online do not relate to all of the cabins. We rented a 3 bedroom, cabin 94. The curtains were ancient, thick polyester lined numbers, which were a problem because 1) there were not enough to cover the entire window (we had to use a beach towel) and 2) they were directly behind our beds. The...

Lodging was a one bedroom unit with fireplace. Quarters were musty smelling and older. It was equipped with a very tiny microwave and a small refrigerator. It was a good price but queen bed was hard and uncomfortable and only a couch in living area. It was convenient for touring volcano area but not a place to go otherwise.

We were pleasantly surprised on how clean our room was. Really cozy living room and and jacuzzi tub was awesome. The Cafe food was horrible but just 10 mins away are great places to eat. The general store was really convenient. The only complaint that I have is that the bed is too hard and the stain glasses window brings...
