We had a very nice spot just a short walk from the river. The campground was full, but very quiet. We had our extremely well behaved Labradors and they loved the grounds. They even got a dip in the Gros Ventre river.
We arrived after dark end of Sept. Easy to find a spot open although I was shocked at how many people still camping that late in the year. Also despite 300+ camping spots looked to be over 75% full. Was beautiful beneath the fall cottonwood...More
Close to Jackson, Wy (about 12 miles). Many RV spots, shaded and partial shade. Has two dump stations, but no hookup water at the sites. About 100 yards from the Gros Ventre River, with good fishing to be found. Two side trips recommended--up the road...More
Campground was spacious and had nice trees on each site. We were able to ga s a nice fire and it was quiet. We saw four moose cows near the bathroom in the morning. There’s a nice path along the river with a good chance...More
We made an epic 3,000 mile camping trip this summer with the goal being to visit Grand Teton and Yellowstone. We headed out without reservations and were able to consistently find a campsite where ever we went. I give Gros Ventre 4 stars NOT because...More
The Gros Ventre Campground is the closest campground to the town of Jackson. Surrounded by cottonwood trees, bordered by the Gros Ventre River, and with views of the Grand Teton Mountain Range, this campground is truly magnificent! Gros Ventre has just over 300 individual campsites for both tents and RVs and five large group sites. Every site is different ranging from wooded to sunny and nestled among trees. Sites vary in size and can accommodate RVs up to 45ft. Thirty-six sites have electricity, 10 of which are ADA compliant with and adjacent restroom. There are two loops that do not allow generators and one loop that only allows tents. All campsites include a picnic table, a fire pit, and parking for one RV or two cars. Nearby bathrooms include flush toilets and cold running water. Shower facilities are located in the surrounding area but not on site. Individual campsites are available on a first come, first served basis.
I'd have to agree with everything Dave said. Check out is 11am. Best to be there and in line for a spot by then. I have posted a picture of the map I was given when checking in. Not much of a map! They let me go and look... More
