Best features : partial view of Grand Canyon, historic lobby, excellent dining with terrific views. Dedicated and helpful staff , clean and comfortable rooms. Issues: Wifi was very slow, down for hours and once up again kept dropping lines. Our room wasn't ready until 445 pm. Lobby is chaos midday because day visitor's come in by train and take up...

We went back and forth about staying at Thunderbird or El Tovar, no quite sure what to do. Ultimately we chose to stay at El Tovar.....and we were all so THRILLED that we did!!! It has so much charm and character....and a very comfortable atmosphere. From rocking on the porches overlooking the rim, to sitting in the lounge listening to...

We only had one night here but it was very enjoyable. Check in was brisk. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a drink in the lounge; good wine choices and hot snacks. The breakfast was table service and very good quality. Would recommend this. A variety of travellers from families to couples. Being right on the Canyon you...

Close to the action, and the only spot, that we knew of, to get a cold beer. We went on a spectacularly beautiful, warmer than usual day in mid-March. El Tovar sounded more appealing online than it was in person. I get it, it's one of the original hotels, and it shows. Dark, log-cabin feel with really small bar/lounge area...

This is the place to stay if you visit the Grand Canyon. Built in 1905 as a first class hotel to bring travelers to the West, it has 100 rooms and was one of the great hotels of its era. It is located right on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Our room did not have a view, but...

We were excited about our trip to the Grand Canyon and booked this hotel for two nights, even though it was more expensive than others because it was described as a luxury hotel and this trip was a special occasion, a once in a lifetime trip. The hotel is in a superb location right on the edge of the south...

The best feature, of course, of this hotel is the location, but we fell in love with the place. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because we arrived during the time of the year when it is hot and cold so the system had not been turned over to air conditioning. So it was hot in the...

Really enjoyed our three nights in the El Tovar. For a hotel that was built in the early 1900s, it is surprisingly modern. However, it still had that old rustic lodge appeal with dark wood and influences of Native American culture. The view of the canyon outside the hotel was beautiful. Highly recommend.

Beautiful place on south rim of Grand Canyon. Had lunch which was reasonably priced given the area and my expectations. Dark wood and animal heads great you as you enter. I wonder was PETA folks feel when they walk in. I found it charming. Service was a little slow but with a window seat it didn't matter much. Plan at...

We spent two nights at the hotel. It lives up to all expectations. Nice to sit in the lobby and have a glass of wine or beer. Only recommendation I can make is book dinner reservations at the hotel same time you book your room. We couldn't get into the dining room at all.
