This past February, we made reservations for a one-night hotel stay at the Grand Canyon Lodge, North Rim. We paid extra for a “rim view.” Approaching the lodge, we saw guests trying in vain to get ice out of the two empty ice machines. When we arrived on July 23, 2014 we were assigned cabin 117. My husband confirmed that...

Small room-queen bed - small refrig - really cramped bathroom - my muscular Hubby really had a hard time fitting......But it was "campy and nice." Desk was also in the room. ABSOLUTELY QUIET - enough to drive you mad---no TV, radio, internet - just a ceiling fan and clock. Bring a flashlight to get around - it was warm to...

The good was the view!!!! Exceptional and better than the South side. The food and service at the Lodge was great but staying in what they call a cabin was not my idea of fun. Tiny little modules that look like cabins in duplex style. Going here is a long tedious drive and the reason most people go to the...

A small, but comfy cabin for two. Clean and a short walk from the parking lot.Ceiling fan and leaving cross windows helped keep the room cool. Close to lodge for eating and hiking. The shower head blasted water which actually hurt, but turned it to the side and that helped. Cute, Rustin, log cabin.

We stayed in Pioneer cabin. It was rustic but clean. I would recommend trying to get a cabin with a view since this May give a quieter location. Cabins are duplexes so we could hear the people next door clearly including snoring. Staff were wonderful. I especially like the coffee shop.

This was my first trip to the North Rim despite being at the South Rim a number of times. The lodge at the North Rim houses the restaurant, deli, saloon and gift shop, but no rooms. The rooms are either in cabins or two motel type buildings. We stayed in the motel. Did I mention that the lodge was terrific?...

The North Rim is very beautiful, the restaurant has great food and a very nice view on the rim(I had the duck, super yummy!). I made restaurant reservations 4 months ahead. The pioneer cabin that we reserved even earlier and was described 'rim side' wasn't great at all. No rim view. And I don't mind the lack of luxury but...

As part of our tour of the National Parks, one of our last stays was at the North Rim. The main area and reception was rustic and old worldly and has retained its charm, even if a little dated. The accommodation are cabins away from the reception which would make it interesting in inclement weather. During our stay it was...

There is no other place really to stay than at the North Rim Gd Canyon Lodge if you wand to stay inside the park. And the Lodge is great, the porches, the panoramic windows, the dining room, the reception desk tellers, it's like being in a time warp. The lodge is a landmark that you have to check out if...

In some national parks one can easily stay outside the park and enjoy a better accommodation at a lower price. This is not possible with the North Rim. The view from the main lodge, which is an easy walk from any of the rooms, is not to be missed and can be enjoyed from early morning to sunset to star...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The more remote North Rim offers up its beauty and solitude to those willing to make a little longer trek to cooler temperatures and greener vegetation of the Grand Canyon's less visited rim. Time means little here in this Nirvana for nature lovers…abundant forest beauty and wrap-around scenic splendor as sheer walls hold in the Colorado River a mile below. The only developed lodging within the National Park’s North Rim boundaries this historic treasure has cabins and lodging tucked into the trees and dotting the canyon edge. The historic dining room with wall to ceiling windows gives diners the unique opportunity to take in the Canyon's views and tasteful regional and sustainable delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended. For guests seeking a unique remembrance of their visit to this special place, there is a gift store and convenience store located at the North Rim. Authentic Native American handcrafts, jewelry and merchandise that is U.S.A. made by local and regional artists provide an array of gift items for guests to the Grand Canyon. Smell the pines, listen to the fluttering leaves of quaking aspen, and keep an eye out for a California condor, the largest bird in North America. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is only open from mid May to mid October. ... more   less
