Firstly, the hotel itself is VERY dated with carpets that look straight out of Mad Men. The rooms are nothing special but do offer a fridge, a comfy bed and a consistent shower. If you get a parking spot anywhere near the hotel, treasure it and don’t leave it. Remember you have to check in to the Bright Angel Lodge...

Just looking back, I realize that every morning I wake up to a large picture of the Grand Canyon that I shot just after sunrise because we stayed there-Fantastic! Worth it to roll out of bed & pad along the canyon rim in your slippers!

I always wanted to see the Grand Canyon but my husband had been there, done it. Finally my family went, 9 of us! I was expecting little more than a camping out kind of log cavin situation with the bare minimum, but wow for what I paid, it was so very nice! It was in the 30's and 40's in...

Like others have said parking is sparse. Be prepared to walk with your luggage and then hike it upstairs. Our room had partial canyon view which we could see the canyon but not overly well, but also the flat roof of a connected building. Being able to walk outside to Bright Angel and El Tavor is great. The outside of...

We stayed at Thunderbird Lodge for two nights in early March. Our room was on the 1st floor, facing the street. The rooms are standard size with 2 queen beds, tv, safe, Keurig, fridge. The Bath had shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and hair dryer. All rooms require some stair climbing. Parking close by is limited, but we left our...

This lodge is located at the center of the Grand Canyon Village which is the main tourist attraction point and the starting bus ride for Hermit road. During the peak season, hermit road is closed for private autos. You have to ride with the (free) bus transportation. However, this causes the parking issue for the hotel guests because we are...

My wife, daughter and I just returned from a 2 night stay at Thunderbird Lodge, South Rim Grand Canyon. We felt very lucky to have secured a room at this location which cannot be understated. This hotel is literally steps away from the incredible views and trails of the Grand Canyon South rim. Parking is very limited. We were extremely...

The views are amazing but the lodge is not. The rooms are very noisy. You can hear every word, cough, cry and sound from the adjoining rooms. The rooms are very ordinary with small bathrooms. There are only 11 parking spots for the lodge. Plan on parking a very long distance away (possibly even a shuttle bus ride away). There...

We ended up with a room right by the entrance. The rooms are small, they are cinderblock walls and the bathroom was tiny, You do not stay in this hotel for the accommodations. You stay because literally two feet from your room you see the most magnificent view you have ever seen. It is like you are on the edge...

We just returned from a 2 night stay. It was a partial view room. The view was still great. You could see about the top 1/4 of the canyon from our first floor room. The close proximity to the rim (about 25 yards), the El Tovar and Bright Angel dinning areas made our first trip to the Grand Canyon very...
