I was tasked with arranging a camping trip for our family and selected Mather Campground in the second weekend of October. The weather was warmer than normal and the campsite was very nice. We were within hiking distance to the South rim and visitors center...More
Park is very nice. We did not stay in this campground because it only has sites for tents & campers UNDER 30 feet in length. Showers at entrance of camphground. We spent srveral days at the Park, hard to see in less time.
Weather extremes, and our spot close to the road but otherwise great campground. Quiet, lotsa wildlife, convenient, close to hiking n the canyon! Food was good, market prices not too bad. Giftshop good.
An amazing place to stay but make sure that if you are going in the summer months that you book in advance as the site for the 3 nights we were there was fully booked.

Great location and solid facilities. The showers are a drive away though from most sites. The sites are well maintained and are quite spacious with trees around making them private. Good flat ground for tents and campers. Would definitely recommend!

The showers were ok. Small/narrow, but private as in you get your own stall, but not much space when it comes to keeping your stuff together/shower itself. It wasn't anything fancy by all means, more industrial, but works just fine when you want a shower. When we were there, only 50% of their showers were working (they have about a dozen if I can remember). Plan accordingly when to take a shower so you can get in. Cost is $2 for 8 minutes.

These sites and roads are very small, and a very tight squeeze. But they did not seem very strict when were were there so I do not see them turning you away for one foot. I am almost positive the RV right across from me was bigger than 30'. Of course they tried to park in the pull through coming from the opposite direction so they scrapped the side of their rented RV on one of the site boulders... but I did not see others having trouble. Noobies I guess. I would call the park and speak with them directly. I did not see them go out and measure to make sure people were telling them the truth on the size of their rv.
