Spotlessly clean and spacious room with a lovely bathroom and amazing walk-in shower. We stayed in a 3 person apartment which had kitchenette facilities but in the end we didn't use these as the apartments served breakfast and we were out for much of the day thereafter. The pool area was lovely and quiet and there was never an issue getting a sunbed. The pool was immaculately clean and it was a treat to have an ice-cold beer next to the pool while watching the swallows swooping down for a drink. A hire car is recommended if, like us, you wanted to drive to different beaches and see the island. We picked our hire car up from the airport on arrival - although we understand that Angelos is also able to arrange car hire, it seemed the easier option. It was only a 25 minute drive to the apartments, we put our trust in Google maps and all was well! The apartments are located in a peaceful area, about a 10 minute drive to Tsilivi. Turning left out of the apartment, there is a grassy beach a 5 minutes stroll away (by Vardiola restaurant) and, turning right, another small beach about the same distance - it was an easy and fun snorkel between the two. The local well-stocked supermarket is about 1.5 kms away; don't forget to take a face mask with you as these are mandatory in shops at present. We had dinner twice at the on-site restaurant and the food was extremely tasty and reasonably priced. I also recommend Vardiola restaurant for views, service and quality. Thanks to Angelos and the whole team who made our stay so enjoyable especially Manny and Mary for delicious food, the amazing housekeeper who kept our room immaculate throughout and a big shout out to Sabina who makes a mean Cosmopolitan and looked after us impeccably, a real treasure. All in all, we had a lovely stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Tim and family All in all, we had a lovely stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back

Pros: -Very clean hotel -Staff are very friendly (Sabine, Adu and our housekeeper were exceptional) as were the owner's daughters. -Mary the owner was warm and very maternal. -Food was made-to-order, fresh and tasty Cons: -This hotel is NOT family friendly, (well for kids under the age of 15 anyway). My two year old kept getting judgmental and hostile looks from Angelos the owner, if he cried or wandered about. I felt high levels of stress when I and my son were around him. We kept being told to keep him quite, keep him under control it was relentless. I understand that a crying toddler can be unsettling, but a little bit of understanding goes a long way. -Angelos was overall okay, but coming from a hospitality background, I take slight in the way he spoke to me, (a paying guest) when I asked him if someone could pick up my tray and plate from the room. We had been told by the cook, that upon finishing our food, we should call the front desk and ask someone to come and pick the food tray. So I did as I was told, asked Angelos if there was someone who could pick up the tray and MY GOD, the berating that I got. I felt like an elementary school child being scolded by the headmistress. He said that THERE WAS NO ONE TO PICK UP THE TRAY AND THAT I SHOULD BRING IT DOWN MYSELF. I was taken aback by his tone of voice and general demeanor. I explained to him that I was only following instructions given to me by the cook (there was nothing in the manual that said anything about guests bringing down the tray before 6pm). His attitude was nothing but unwelcoming. We were also told off for asking for pool towels (he insisted that he had told us we could pick a set at the reception upon arrival and use it for 3 days, before asking for a new set of fresh towels). Neither my partner nor I recall him saying that. He made it into a big deal even lambasting the housekeeper for giving us towels when "she knew it was not policy".Anyway those two incidents put me off for the remainder of our trip. He is a nice guy, but needs some training on how to be kinder and more gentle to guests. Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel

This hotel is where we have stayed every September. We meet the same guests who have become good friends. Angelos, Mary, Corina and Manny look after us. Nothing is too much trouble. We are collected from the airport and we book a car rental through Angelos (a car is important unless you want to walk locally or spend the time around the pool). The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are excellent with walk in shower in the spacious bathrooms. Every room has a sea view from the balcony. The food is cooked to order by Mary and she can cater for all guests’ requirements. Corina runs the bar and there is a wide range of beers served in ice cold glasses or a choice of cocktails and spirits. This hotel is not ideal for young children but luxury for adults. Needless to say we love staying here on our favourite Greek island.

We stayed for a week in September. The staff are all super friendly, the food is super fresh and tasty. The room was spotless along with the rest of the hotel. We couldn’t understand why it was only rated as a 2 star, should be higher!!

We booked a last-minute family stay at the Arkadia and couldn’t have been happier. The hotel is in a very quiet location and is run by hospitable, helpful people. Everything is spotlessly clean, the food is lovely, the rooms are tasteful and spacious. I’m not sure why it is advertised as 2 star as it is more like a 4 star hotel. The pool area is great - we were able to relax and our girls played all day long in the water. As the hotel only has a limited amount of apartments it never seems to get too busy and there is never a fight for sun loungers. As other reviews have pointed out it is necessary to have transport if you wish to see a bit of the island - though it would be easy to just hang around at the hotel and switch off! We hired a car and felt we had the best of both worlds. Zakynthos is a mixture of remote and built-up tourist areas. It was good to dip into the latter but be staying in the former. Couldn’t recommend the Arkadia highly enough - Angelos, Corina and the rest of the team will make you feel very welcome.
