We stayed here for 4 nights on points and getting that 4th night free from our IHG credit card benefit! (Be aware though if you book in points because there is a BIG SURPRISE unfortunately for families. Let me tell you, this place is amazing and beautiful. There are 2 buildings to this hotel. They are called Wings. We stayed in the Bay Wing which was just opened up 2 years ago. When walking into the lobby of the Bay Wing hotel, it was jaw dropping beautiful. We were greeted by a member of the staff who asked us to sit down at the couch area, from there she brought over some shikuwasa citrus drinks for us to enjoy along with a lavender scented towel to wipe our hands and face. Our room was an ocean view room and was beautiful. The room was very good size and clean. The Bay wing itself doesn't have too many amenity's in this wing, however they have a golf cart transfer service (for free) where they can take you over to the other building(Ocean Wing). Over on the Ocean Wing, they have the restaurants, gym, and other amenities that our building didn't have. Both buildings have pools, but the one on the Ocean wing has a indoor pool, and outdoor but with a water slide and waterfall. The Bay Wing pool is huge, and has a kids water play area, but our son wanted to go on the water slide instead. Both hotels have access to the hotels private beach area. Out there you can just relax in the sun and the ocean water (perfect temperature), or rent some equipment or water sports. They also have an inflated water obstacle course which was a lot of fun even for the parents. This was super fun for all of us. They also have air pumps for the guest to use if they want to bring inflatable toys to play in the water. All in this hotel was a amazing place and a lot of fun and great for family. There is 1 BIG drawback at this hotel that needs to be noted that caught me by surprise also!!!!! IF YOU ARE PAYING IN POINTS BEWARE!!! WHEN BOOKING A POINTS REWARD ROOM, THEY ONLY ALLOW 2 GUESTS. (Even though the room can hold 4) For the 3rd person, our son they wanted to charge an extra 15000yen per day! We were notified about this charge only a week before our trip. I talked to the hotel and they said "its in the fine print about adding a 3rd person to the room, a child older than 6 years old" I had to contact IHG corporate about this issue since it was not detailed in the booking, UNLESS you open the information tab on what each night costs. Usually when booking they just show you the final amount of points you pay, not the breakdown of each night. After complaining to IHG Corporate and saying that we never knew along, and was not advertised very well and telling them we would have to cancel our stay, the hotel waived the 15000 yen per night fee. We would definitely love to come back to this hotel, however with a fee for a 3rd person to the room of 15,000 per night and no extra benefits for it, this is something that will keep us away from this hotel as a family since we are already paying a lot in points in the first place. If we were to pay this ridiculous fee it would have costed us another 60,000 yen for nothing and it was only for those that want to pay for the room in points. I hope the hotel can take a hard look at this fee and hopefully get it removed because this is in a way of discriminating against customers that pay in points for their family vacation. I understand for small business hotels in japan that they charge by occupancy, But not a 5 star resort like Intercontinental.

My family and I had such an amazing stay at the ANA Intercontinental Ishikagi. By far the customer service was stellar! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and meet our needs. We were welcomed with delicious drinks. The front desk attendant walked us to our room and gave us an overview of the resort. We stayed in the new Bay Wing, the room was beautiful. Everything was brand new basically. We ate at Saltida, one of the resort’s restaurants which was very enjoyable although very pricey. Although the resort is in a great location with a lot of different food options. They have an indoor saltwater pool with jacuzzi as well as two outdoor pools, waterslide and kid waterslide/sprinkler and playground. I definitely would recommend this resort to anyone traveling with their family it was an amazing vacation and can’t wait to visit again.

First impressions from the taxi: a HIDEOUS monstrous white triangle tower. I thought we made a dire mistake in choosing here 😱 (Ok tbh it was but wasn't as bad as I thought) We got out the taxi and went to the front desk to be told that thankfully there is another building and our room was not in the weird old one!! Staff took us to the correct building by golf cart. Check in was fast and easy. There was no wait, that was nice. Our room was gorgeous and new!! We could see the really awesome pool, and the ocean too! My friend and I each had a large bed to ourselves. However, sharing the room is not ideal for friends because the shower/bath has a transparent glass wall 🤣🤣🤣 at least the toilet is private. Also we looooved the mirrors. We didn't love the "ambiance" music playing around the pool at night. It was annoying, but if we closed the sliding door, we didn't hear it. Otherwise, we liked the balcony a lot. Once the music was shut off, we sat out and looked at the stars and listened to the sea. So pretty! It is a pool/beach resort so of course free towels everywhere! Love that. But it was SO disappointing tattooed guests can't use the pools. I'm not surprised because Japan but disappointed. I expect MUCH MORE of InterContinental (not ANA tbh). It's discrimination, plain and simple, and seems they are OK with that in Japan. Do you love coffee? I sure do. The coffee at breakfast and Palette was barely tolerable. There is a Nespresso in the room, also meh. FortunatelyI found a SUPERB cafe in Ishigaki town, NutsTown Roasters. The staff in the hotel restaurant and Palette did not really seem to care much about their coffee, though they were kind. The baristas at NutsTown are a lot more passionate!! And for the price, you get WAYYY better drink. If you love coffee, don't waste your time at this hotel. Speaking of Palette staff not seeming to care... I ordered two sandwiches and four appetizers to take to the beach. I was alone when ordering, but obviously I was not going to eat that much alone. It was quite a lot of food, and it came in boxes and a convenient bag. I got to the beach where my friend was at, and found one oshibori in the bag, NO UTENSILS. Did I feel like walking back to from the beach to ask for utensils?? NO. We ate everything, even salad, with our hands. Washed our hands in the ocean, wiped down on the towels. Unideal, but whatever. Bloody expensive for some takeaway, though it was good. Just wish we had proper utensils...

Dear 999x666 Thank you very much for sharing your valuable feedback about your recent stay with us. While we appreciate your taking the time to provide such a detailed account of experience, I am very sorry that it was necessary for you to do so and I would like to apologize about the service shortfall you encountered at the Palette Terrace & Lounge. Please rest assured that your remarks have been shared with the team and taken note of in order not to let this happen again. We also sincerely regret that the coffee we served was not to your liking and we will look into this matter. My team and I would like to offer our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused. As fo the tattoo policy at our recreational facilities, mainly for cultural reasons, our international travelers may likely find that having tattoos are a complicated matter in Japan, as most of all swimming pools, public baths as well as the renown hot springs and ryokan of the country have a strict no-tattoo policy which we also need to adhere to prevent causing embarrassment and complaints from our local customers, even if we are an international hotel and like to see more relaxed rules in that area as we understand the growing influence of the modern tattoo culture. Nevertheless, we allow flexibility and guests who can hide tattoos with a skin tone tape can freely access our pool facilities and we also have wearable rashies available for much larger tattoos. I feel sorry for the frustration it has caused to you during your visit. Comments like yours are very important to us, as they help identifying opportunities for improvements. On the other hand, I am really pleased that you liked the smooth check-in, the comfort of our BAY new rooms and the great view of the ocean. In regards to the bathroom, kindly take note that the whole space can be fully enclosed with sliding partitions for more privacy. I am also sorry if this was not properly explained to you. 999x666, we would like to assure you that it is our aim to deliver excellent services and quality and hope that your last impression will not mere you from staying with us in the future. We would be glad if you could give us a second chance to show you that we take our guest comments very seriously and it would be a pleasure to welcome you back to ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort during your next trip to the island! Should you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Best Regards, Yusuke Abe F&B Manager

The interiors and food at the Club Intercontinental were excellent and exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the tasteful attention to detail in every single fixture in the room. We had a great and memorable trip with our children. On the other hand, however, we were often disappointed by the hotel staff at the Club. It was very stressful as each staff member had different things to say about basic information, such as whether children were allowed in the Club Lounge during cocktail hour and whether you could call the van service at the Club entrance or not. There were times when I was surprised to find that the person who received my request had utterly forgotten about it in an hour. If you are too busy or otherwise unable to help, it is good service to say so. At the very least, hotel staff should not commit themselves to something they may not be able to do. I would stay here again, but probably not at the Club Intercontinental.

I am currently typing this review while still at the ANA resort and this review is most applicable to Americans and people from North America, also right now, the Okinawa Prefecture is under a state of Emergency (your clue as to how this review will be written.) I came here with my wife on Sunday the 13th of June 2021 and leaving the 18th of June 2021. So far the ANA Resort has been great considering the circumstances. The one big thing to note for Americans reading this is that according to the people at the front desk the resort gets 95 % jappense tourist as guest 3 % Americans and 2 % other nationalities. Because of this specifically, my wife and I have noticed that not many of the workers speak english and the ones that do speak only broken english. Theirs only one that we have seen that speaks fluent english, which has made it hard for us to communicate a little. Because of Covid and the state of Emergency in the Okinawa Prefecture, the resort has had to make a lot of changes , so if your planning on visiting within the next month expect their to be a lot of changes, for example the main building is shut down, so regardless of where your pick your room, you are going to end up in the Bay wing (the ocean wing is closed down). The indoor pool we think is also closed down but were not sure as the staff has told us different things on this. The Saltida resturant which is in the Bay wing is open but on the website it doesnt talk about the prices of the resturant. Once you get here, you will notice that dinner is very expensive, even for a glass of Coca Cola its 1100 yen. The food is very good and we have no complaints about it. The only open pool is in the Bay wing currently , but most people end up going to the beach. Either way the pool is very nice and its also very family friendly. The beach which is sunset beach is also very nice and you can even see some small fish in it. I highly recommend purchasing a room with free breakfast and the Saltida is the only breakfast resturant which is very good (Everything looks to be made in house). Currently it just feels like everything is watered down because of covid and I would love to see this place when Covid is winding down as I am sure its an amazing place. This place is very expensive but it is a 5 star hotel so you do get what you pay for. The bars at the pool and around the island is closed due to covid, still, the resort stocks your fridge with alcohol which I am sure they add on to your bill at the end of the visit. The linens, towls, robes are all replaced each day which is very nice. Overall I am giving this place a 4.3 stars, it would be a 5 stars all day long execept for the langauge barrier portion, still its a nice resort.

The new (“Bay”) wing is what you’d expect in design, luxury finishes and amenities of a 5-star Intercontinental. The staff is polished and helpful and responsive to any request. Dining options are limited, but good, and can be extended by traversing the grounds to the shabbier, older, original building. At $1,300 a night for a “deluxe ocean view 43sqm twin” one has to wince, however. An upgrade to the adjacent Club Intercontinental wing will set you back a further $350 for the privilege of a lounge offering continental breakfast, afternoon tea, and cocktail hour, and less of a view. It is a family resort after all, but an adults only zone and dining curfew for the young would add value. I like children, just couldn’t eat a whole one! Not much to do off campus in the immediate vicinity but that’s what a full service resort is for!

We had a very nice family vacation for spring break. We stayed for 5 nights and were able to truly enjoy the hotel with our children. Some positive points: Breakfast was very nice with a combination of service and buffet. The pools were multiple and all very well staffed, even during COVID times. Our time at the beach was also very nice, the kids enjoyed every moment of that as well. The food, either the Japanese restaurant or the international restaurant were quite good. There were some restaurants closed, but the availability of food and beverage was quite good, as there was also a small gift shop selling beverages and snacks. Some areas of improvement: Some of the rooms are older. This is a property in transition, but I don't want to be negative. There is a new wing, an old wing that has been refurbished and an old wing without exterior refurbishment. The older wing without the refurbishments (Coral Wing) is where we stayed. The rooms are still well appointed and very spacious for a hotel in Japan, even an ANA Intercontinental. The space is organized well, with a bathroom that has a 3 separate areas for sink, bath/shower, toilet. With kids, this is great as you can have multiple activities going on at once. The pools and restaurants require some walking in between. It's a large resort, but it's good exercise during the day. As we were there, the Kids Club was closed, but the Gym was open. It was nicely appointed for a hotel gym. The onsen/spa was closed, but there was a hot tub in the indoor pool. I would like to take a moment to give some credit to the staff. The GM, Mr. Barcelo was very communicative with our family and an additional one traveling with us. We were able to ensure a good understanding of what to expect. Personally, I was concerned that this type of hotel would not be good for families, but I should not have been worried. Everything worked out very well. We also had two very good experiences with the Front Desk (Adachi-san) and in the restaurant (Morita-san). Both areas provided pro-active service and ensured that we had a great time.

Helpful and bright professional stuff with clean an emerald green ocean view in sunny days. I spent my Lunar new year here with my friends in one room on the 7th floor. The great ocean views makes it one of the best hotels here in Ishigaki Island. The facilities are well maintained and rooms are spacious enough for 3 people to stay. The SPA place seems to be closed due to covid 19. The golf club is within walking distance and Maesato beach is just beside the hotel where is a fantastic place for jogging during the day. Compared with other InterContinental hotels in Sanya during Chinese new year season, InterContinental Ishigaki is a much better choice to spend your lunar year with your family with a much more reasonable price and fewer visitors. The only thing for me, if there is any, is that there is only one Chinese TV channel and if you wanna watch the spring festival gala show, you probably need to connect your computer to the TV using HDMI cable, which is a little bit bothersome. Except for that, I am very satisfied with my stay here and would recommend to my family and friends.

Went with my son - I had to work on and off while there but he loved the kids club (they were really nice and kind to him) and the pool so he had a great time. Pool is very kid friendly. Their beach isn't fabulous but is nice to have. Prices seem to vary dramatically - we've been twice and the second time was more than double the price. Would definitely stay again if the price is reasonable. We chose nicer rooms which had been updated and had very comfortable beds.

Yet another awful ANA hotel that is affiliated with an IHG. It is under the InterContinental brand but is at best a Holiday Inn or Crowne Plaza. The weekend I was here the paid rates were $600 or 60,000 points per nights that re both highway robbery for this garbage. As a matter of fact, I cut my stay short and flew out day early. The facilities are old and employees not knowledgeable. First one told me that the fitness center is closed due to Covid-19 (she completely made that up) only to find out that it is open 24 hours. Gentleman working at the front desk in the night was not wearing a face mask. The AC works but could be stronger. The room temperature got uncomfortably hot at times. Unless you are going to use the aging hotel facilities, do yourself a favor and book one of the local hotels are one third/one fourth of the price compared to this crap
