I am a foreign resident of Japan for over 20 years. Most venerable Japanese hotel chains or local independent hotels seem to aim for the lowest common denominator. They provide an acceptable level of quality for the budget traveler or families with kids. They do not provide any luxury or a wow factor. Fusaki is different and is really an international class resort. The beach is lovely. The pool area is directly on the beach, quite large, well designed including the lighting at night and has plenty of cabanas and lounge chairs. One thing I appreciate that you do not see in Japan is a bar next to the pool. So you can actually enjoy a drink at the pool -- and not just Asahi Super Dry. You can have actual cocktails, wine, or craft beer. There is also a cafe next to the pool and you can have your meal at the pool. I also like that they have a pool designed for kids at the far end, so if you want to stay away from the kids you can just stay near the bar. For a rainy day, they have a wellness center with a large indoor pool, gym, Japanese style hot bath, and spa. The general services are really good such as food, strong wifi, resort transport (free shuttle from the airport), shops inside the resort, self-service laundry facilities, etc.

Thank you for staying at the FUSAKI BEACH RESORT HOTEL & VILLAS, and also thank you for the great comments about your experience. Like you mentioned in the comments, our facilities are unlike other resorts in Japan more like South-East Asia's beach resort atmospheres. We look forward to seeing you again here in FUSAKI BEACH RESORT HOTEL & VILLAS. Sincerely, General Manager,  Akihiro Tezuka

Really enjoyed the pool and beach areas, especially the kids pool area - perfect for my 8 and 4 year old boys. Everything at the resort is nice, staff is friendly, very clean, has good amenities. But the restaurant situation there is not good. Soon after checking in for a 3 night stay, we tried to make a reservation for the BBQ restaurant on the beach and were told it was fully booked that night and the next 2 nights as well. Other restaurants on the premise - same thing. The breakfast area had a line out the door every morning too. Lunch options aren't very good either and the poolside bar no longer serves food. Best to plan on going off the resort for most meals.

This hotel has been completely modernized to a high standard. It is one of the only hotels I have stayed at in Japan which manages to sort of create the atmosphere you might find in a South East Asian resort. The staff were all very friendly. The huge beach is beautiful. The pool is very large and the kids water park excellent. Do not miss the indoor pool and especially the public bath if you go in summer. There is excellent WiFi throughout the resort. There are many restaurants a short distance away - our favourite was Funakura no Sato. I would definitely stay here again. NB We went in July 2020 when covid-19 restrictions were still in place and the hotel had more than adequate rules to cope with this. The hotel itself was only at around 30% occupancy which made it a very enjoyable and peaceful place to stay - it may be different in normal times.

High quality resort with great amenities. Fantastic terraced pool, brilliant children splash park, direct beach access with water activities. Carefully and continuously guarded pool and beach. Wonderful (and COVID safe) breakfast. Currently only 2 on site restaurants but plenty of options in Ishigaki at only 10-15 mins by taxi.

Nice and modern hotel with big rooms with two seperate (did not find one big bed) beds, big shower room, nespresso coffe, air condition but with uncomfortable quilts in the beds. You got 1000 JPY to buy for at the hotel area if you didnt want cleaning, nice environmental aspect. We stayed here in the first week of jan. The bech was really nice, about 20-22 degrees in the ocean and 23 in the air and very nice staff at the Beach station that offered beach watch/guard and several different ocean activities. The sunset was beautiful and the ocean water so clean. Good sun beds. Free shuttle bus from airport and about 1.500 JPY, 20 min, taxi ride to the small city of Ishigaki. The food was really nice, both breakfast and dinner buffet. The dinner buffet was somewhat expensive. 5500 JPY. Generally very friendly staff and plenty of staff working there The bad aspects that lowers the overall grading down to almost 3/5 was that the pool area and the pool bar was closed even though the weather was nice. Also, 3 out of 5 restaurants was closed giving less options for eating! This was low season, but not reason enough for closing the pool area. The experience would have been so much better with open pool and pool bar. We could get late check out but to a price of 2000 JPY per hour (!), you might have thought that could have been free because of the low season and the low amount of guests. All over the hotel the english translations was limited and another facilty you thought should have existed but didnt was training facilities. Overall a nice place on a really nice location with some important service aspects to improve.

Have been staying over the yaer-end. We arrived the island around 7:00 p.m. due to flight delay. Rent-a-car shop we had booked was closed at 5:00 p.m. and no hotel shuttle services available in the evening, so we had to line up to catch the cab in a driving rain. Unfortunately weather has been terrible - stormy, windy and cold - since we arrived the island. Anytime we are out from the room, we get wet even with hotel rent umbrella. Parking in the hotel is full so we have to park in the extra lot across the raod where there are puddles. You would need to go for brunch to avoid kids occupied dining. Bathroom is so small and tiny. Overall, staying in the hotel under rain is not much relaxing and comfortable. Hotel is designed to be under the sun.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying at FUSAKI BEACH RESORT and we appreciate you spending your time to provide feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience or discomfort you may have experienced during your stay. Second, the garden-terrace and North wing have a separate type of bathroom. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us when you make a reservation. We stayed here for a few days and had a lovely sea view room in the Garden Terrace. The room was a good size with three full sized single beds (for three adults). There is a lovely coral beach and the sunset view form the pier is perfect. Lunch is good value but we found all of the onsite dinner options extremely expensive (buffet Y5500 per person excluding any drinks). Food is mainly geared towards Japanese tastes (not surprisingly) and fussy western eaters may find that there is little to tempt them. We arrived 5 November and discovered that the pool was closed even though the weather was warm and sunny, no clear reason for this. There is some construction work going on at the southern end of the site to build more accommodation, however this was not intrusive. Hope they add more car parking though as we had to use car park 3 which is about 200m away up the road. There is lots to do nearby, although a car is needed. Recommend the views at Kabira Bay, the limestone caves and the Yaima Village (get discount tickets form the hotel tour desk).

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you very much for choosing FUSAKI BEACH RESORT. We appreciate you taking the time to write to us. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed a comfortable stay at our hotel. But we apologize that the food was not satisfying. We will review the menu for a better dining experience. Unfortunately, the outdoor pool is a summer open facility and will close on October 31st. There are plentiful corals in the Fusaki beach offing that is a short walk from the room. On the snorkel tour we will guide you to points where you can see corals and colorful fish. We hope you enjoy the subtropical nature next opportunity. Your feedback will be instrumental for us to improve our service. Our staff hopes that you choose to stay with us again in the future. If you like to stay at a resort style hotel in Ishigaki this is it! This hotel has everything you need to spend time with your family. Restaurants, beach, and nice pool. My kids 6 and 3 years old loved the pool and asking for it every day. The hotel has nice restaurants and if you don’t want to go outside the resort you can eat it there. We stayed at the villa with 4 beds in one room. The room was not so large but only the time we stayed there was to go to sleep so it did not matter to us. Our room was close enough to the pool and our kids didn’t mind the walk to the pool. The walk way to get to the beach was very cute too. We will definitely want to come back and try the new rooms which were going to open next day.

We booked 2 cottages for 5 adults and 2 children. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast Buffet was really good with a nice selection. Rooms were spacious and practical. Construction works was still happening nearby but the noise wasn't noticeable. Checking in was quick and prompt, we had a lot of luggages not sure what the procedure was some people were taken in golf carts, some were pushed in trolleys we waited for a good 15min so we started pushing our own cart until one of the staff came to help us, not sure why they wouldn't just use the golf carts (there was plenty available) and our room was quite far away. Pros: very friendly, polite staff, great facilities Cons: prices of food at the restaurants (though it is a resort) suggestions: When we checked out our luggages were brought to the bottom of the stairs near reception which we then had to push up the stairs to check out even though the golf cart can easily took it straight to reception? Why not take it straight to reception? There wasn't bottled water provided everyday, not a big thing but I thought it would have been nice. Overall great resort with excellent facilities, the splash park was a big hit with the kids, will return when I get a chance.
