Excellent location, decent size rooms, overall good value. Spotless rooms have everything one may need. On-site onsen is excellent. Breakfast is okay, more Japanese choices than Western. Reception staff friendly. This is not a luxury place to be sure, but totally functional and rates quite reasonable. Recommended!

Hotel is a 5-10mins walk from Hakata station. Location is it’s main selling point. Staff spoke basic English. Onsen was broken on the day we stayed so we got a 500yen refund per person. The room was small. The main downside is that there is no cold air conditioning, just warm air. The room was very stuffy. We were told to open the window and they gave up a fan to use. At night it got cooler so it was fine with the window open and fan on. Breakfast was basic Japanese style. There were small croissants. I wouldn’t pay for breakfast. There are lots of choices at Hakata station. I would not stay again. There are much better choices nearby.

This is a pretty basic hotel, which didn't live up to its reviews in the booking site we use. Supposed to be a superior double room, but bed pushed up against wall! What really annoyed me is that they turn the air conditioning off!!!! Apparently because it is winter. They did bring a fan up for us. Most stuff is written in Japanese and staff have little English. Almost nothing on tv in English.. The occasional movie. Very hard bed and only 2 pillows, one of which is made of wheat ( I think! ) No washers. On the plus side, it is clean, the window opens a little, it has a fridge and an electric kettle ( if only I could figure out how it works) The staff are very friendly. It has access to what I think is a public hot pool. Very nice. It is close to the Hakata train station. Also close to Hakata Canal City ( a ketch shopping centre) Booked here because it had very good reviews and thought it was close to the sumo wrestling. I have categorised it as a budget hotel ( based on the hotels we have stayed at in Osaka and Yokohama) however it is not exactly budget price.

Super water quality and good sauna. Location is also good, less than 10 min walk away from Hakata station, which has many attractions, specially food! It is a bit old building but still good with reasonable price. A Japanese friend recommended me this place and I visited oneday before my returning home.

The Yaoji Hakata hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the JR Shinkansen station. It’s quite a nice hotel with a curious (to us) layout. The lobby is on the second floor and can be reached by a set of wide stairs or elevator. We initially took the wrong turn and ended up at the spa on the main floor. Check in was fast and the staff very helpful. Because we arrived too early, the staff let us store our luggage. The room was large enough for us and the beds very comfortable. A pleasant surprise was that the accommodations included the onsen, fed by hot water from a depth of some 1200 metres. Breakfast, buffet style, was available at a cost of ¥1000 per person. Choice of western breakfast items was adequate. But the hotel was not quite perfect: the wifi signal was very weak, not only in our room at the 11th floor but even in the lobby. My other concern was that there appeared to be no control on access to the floors from the street as one could easily take the elevator from street level to the upper floors without having to stop or go through the registration area. That said, we were never concerned about unauthorized access to our room. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
