Our family of 5 reserved 2 rooms at this hotel for 6 nights. My husband and I got the standard room with a double bed. The room was very small with 1 side of the bed against the wall. My kids (23, 21, 14) got a villa room with 3 single beds that are placed against each other. My kids' room was in the newer renovated area on the 1st floor so their room was nicer than ours. Their room was small as well for 3 people but they have a bathroom with toilet and small sink and another bathroom with sink, shower and tub. Staff was friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. Hotel has self serve laundry facilities in the basement. It also has a restaurant on the 2nd floor. We purchased and tried the breakfast buffet 1 time. Price was reasonable at about $12 USD/person. Food was tasty with western and Japanese choices. The location is the best. Hotel is less than a 5 minute walk from the Mejiro Station on the JR Yamanote Line. From the Yamanote line, you can go to many sightseeing spots without transfer. It's also convenient if you do need to transfer to get to your destination. Neighborhood is quiet with plenty of restaurants, 7-11, Family Marts, drugstores nearby. Our favorite for breakfast is St. Mark's Cafe which is just down the street from the hotel. It has a huge sitting area on the 2nd floor, plenty of room for us to stretch out. We won't even attempt to go to the smaller restaurants in Tokyo because there are 5 of us and we want to be comfortable. There's an excellent sushi restaurant, can't remember the name, but it's in the basement of a building nearby--very local. Overall, the hotel can use a renovation, especially the 3rd floor which is where our room was. The carpet in the elevator is very old and dirty looking. Price for the rooms were high because it was between Christmas and New Year. I would stay here again because of the great location but wish the room was bigger and newer.

Thank you for your staying with us, and for your enthusiastic comments. As you mentioned, our hotel is located in 3 or 4 minutes from nearest station. And the station is in Yamanote line, so everyone can go to main sightseeing spots in Tokyo; Shinjuku, Shibuya and Tokyo directly. In addition, there are many kind of restaurants, convenience stores, drug stores and cafe around our hotel. About the room, thank you for your understanding for the size of room. If you have chance to stay with us again, please consider other type of rooms, because we have some type of double rooms, and twin rooms, which have different facilities and size of room. We are very pleased to hear that you seemed to enjoy our breakfast. As you said we offer both of Western and Japanese style buffet. However, we are so sorry about the elevator. We would like to share your comments with our staff and also house keeping staff to improve situation. Finally we wish you had spent precious New year in Japan, and are all looking forward to seeing you again. Best regards. Reception Konishi Richmond Hotel Tokyo Mejiro

This the second time I have stayed here. The location is great as Mejiro station is near and Ikebukuro is in walking distance. There is a supermarket nearby as is the Yamanote line, the room was comfortable and a reasonable size for Tokyo. Quiet hotel and efficient service.

This hotel is not far away from Mejiro station and gives you a good value for money. We had a normal size, for Japan good, room and everything was clean and at our satisfaction. Just the bed was a bit too hard bit everything else was fine. Also the staff was very nice and you get as much beauty products as you like. All in all a decent hotel perfect for a short stay of you would not like to spend to much.

This rating was bordering on a 4. This place ticks all the boxes for the main stuff: - A/C - bed was comfy - room/hotel was clean - front desk service was always very friendly and helpful on the few times we were there. The big ticket item for me is they provide you a smart phone and connected SIM for use while you are touring around Tokyo - this was a wonderful assistance to us and saved us a fortune. Fantastic location - 2mins walk from the train station and some surprisingly good restaurants around this hotel. You can even walk to the more popular Ikebukuro if inclined to do so. CONS 1) There was a sound that came from the A/C at times during the night which was a bit annoying and disturbed our sleep a little. 2) Room was a tad small and cramped but this is hard to avoid in Tokyo. I'd advise anyone travelling as a couple to consider twin roooms and move the beds together as they always looked a bit larger when we looked from outside.

I've stayed at a few Richmond Hotels before this so I knew I could expect great service from the staff always, but I thought it deserves special mention this time. I arrived in the morning on the day Typhoon No.19 (Hagibis) was going to hit, and not only did they have towels ready at the front desk for people to dry themselves from the rain, but rooms were already ready and they were allowing people with reservations to check-in hours before the 2pm check-in time for free so that guests could make early disaster preparations. Staff were also happy to attend to all of my requests throughout my stay. The hotel building and lobby itself is rather dated, but the rooms themselves were refurbished a few years back and are relatively modernised. Everything was adequate for a comfortable stay, and its convenient location really makes this hotel value-for-money. Mejiro is well-connected thanks to the Yamanote Line but at the same time in a quiet neighbourhood. There's Family Mart (convenience store), Lawson (convenience store), Matsumoto Kiyoshi (drugstore), and Cocokara Fine (drugstore) all super nearby, so it provides a peace of mind. I also walked back to the hotel from the more major Ikebukuro Station one night when I was feeling energetic, and it took less than 20 minutes. If I had a minor gripe, it's that the rooms could do with more soundproofing. I could sometimes hear my next door neighbour's phone ringing or hangers knocking, but it's at least faint enough that it wouldn't keep me from sleeping.
