I write these comments after my second stay at Casa Svizzera. On this trip my group of fellow travelers acted early enough to be able to be able to book all three of Casa Svizzera’s hotel suites. As a traveler who finds himself frequently traveling with friends around Italy, my only regret about Casa Svizzera is that it does not... More

The rooms are big, comfortable and have all the amenities that one would need while visiting the region. The Germano family (owners) are friendly and generous and really helped us feel welcome. As an extra, we decided to take the visit and tasting at the winery, hosted by Viviana. Definitely recommended! Stayed in "verde" room.

We spent a weekend in Casa Svizzera back in February, totally out of season. Barolo must have had a different feel to what it is in summer. The structure was more than we needed - clean and welcoming. The only downside was that out of season most (in our case ALL) the restaurants are closed and we had to drive... More

We had the pleasure to stay a night in the suite (room no. 4 on top) of this amazing place. Run by the Germano family, their B&B rooms are situated above their wine shop in the heart of the Barolo village. Welcomed by the family patron, we quickly felt very much at home in the very spacious and utterly tastefully... More

The Casa Svizzera was a wonderfully designed and pleasantly run b+b from which to experience the Piedmont wines in the region. We had a delightful stay in this small family run establishment. I definitely recommend the top floor room. It's well designed and incredibly comfortable. Breakfast in the nearby cafe was very good. A tour and tasting at the affiliated... More

Five star everything! Only three rooms, the interior design is modern - access through old double doors from the street. Boutique type venue. Central location, minutes away from restaurants and the wine shop below the rooms. Breakfast served buffet style at a small cafe down the adjacent steps. My review for Casa Svizzera is very good but I want to tell you about the wine tasting & winery tour plus lunch. Stayed two nights. Very large, comfortable rooms with an L shaped sectional sofa, well stocked with treats, wine, and other beverages. Decor is a well done soft, modern chic. Bathroom is large and modern as well. Balcony overlooks the picturesque town square, great for morning light photos. The host was instrumental in our arrival, critical since we had a wine... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Casa Svizzera farmhouse is located in historic complex that served as the bottling plant of the Barolo Wine Cooperative from 1902 to 1930. Owned by the Germano family (historic winery of Barolo) since 1936 and recently renovated, it is named for the Albergo Svizzero that occupied the residence in the early 20th century. The residence was decorated in the style of a Swiss chalet and, today, has been renamed Casa Svizzera. The farmhouse is located in the pedestrian area of the old town centre of Barolo and is easily accessible by car thanks to a private road with parking. Barolo is located in the heart of the Langhe area, which is full of history, culture and gastronomy. This small medieval town is a sort of capital of the wine country, surrounded by rolling hills in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. With a short walk from the farmhouse you can visit the imposing Castle Falletti of Barolo, which now houses the WiMu National Wine Museum, and the unique Corkscrew Museum, or you can follow one of the "Barolo paths" that pass through marvellous vineyards surrounded by the natural beauty of the Langhe area. ... more   less
