We really enjoyed the night we stayed here. The view from the balcony was fantastic. The room was comfortable and spacious and we slept well. It was a bit old and rough around the edges, and the price was a bit high, but we spent 2 weeks around Sri Lanka and that was more or less par for the course -- Seastar was well worth it for the beautiful view and direct access to the beach. Desk staff were always more than helpful and made the stay really easy and enjoyable.
We just spent 3 nights in this hotel. Had a room with balcony on the second floor and this is really what we were paying for. Nothing else deserves 3 stars. The room itself was big enough but the fridge was dirty (mould growing in it) and I had to ask for the room to be serviced (yet paying USD 55 a night), the bidet spray was broken and the shower set up very high and had low pressure. Tv did not work either. No wifi. The view was however fantastic. We had good breakfasts there and a mediocre lunch. The manager was very friendly and attentive, and when he was around we could always rely on him for advice or just service. There was also a friendly lady who did the cleaning and who always had a smile for you. The rest of the staff were unfriendly and not helpful. You always felt that you were imposing on them. There was in fact a rather unpleasant atmosphere downstairs, which was the only place where the wifi worked. Overall I don't think I would stay there again. …
We have stayed at the restaurant for dinner after visiting coconut tree hill. It has been our worst dining experience in Sri Lanka. Not only was food overpriced and reminded us very much of a cantina, besides that portions were small. Taste confirmed the look. Also the service was not attentive at all. We asked multiple times what dishes are served with and literally had to pull information out of our waiter’s nose. Salad was served without any dressing and our request for vinegar and oil remained unanswered. After we got served, nobody showed up again asking if we are fine or need something else. Overall a rather disappointing dining experience that could not be compensated by the great sunset view.
We stayed here 2 nights. The views were amazing, staff friendly and breakfasts very large. We bought some fresh fish and the staff prepared it for us for a romantic dinner for 2 on the beach. If you snorkel in the beach in front of the hotel you can see turtles.
An excellent mid range hotel located at the quiet end of Mirissa, if you are looking for a quieter spot away from the main crowded beach this is it. It feels like you are on your own private beach but the restaurants and bars of the main beach are just a 5 to 10 minutes walk away. The rooms are large and clean, the breakfast out on the terrace overlooking the sea is fabulous. The owner, Nalaka is very friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend this place.
