We stayed 5 nights at the Calidan Hotel - it was a decent room with a private bathroom and allocated seating area. Two minutes walk to the beach and 5 minutes walk to the main strip. The family were lovely and we enjoyed chatting to them and playing with the children. Kasun was kind and generous. We didn't realise that...

The owners are such nice people. They will go out of their way to please you and make sure you are comfortable. Rooms are clean and comfy and the breakfast is huge. Ask the owner about the whale tours, he will take you to the boats and even pick you up.

Place is clean enough and has large rooms. Owner was very helpful to arrange our whale watching tour and transportations. Towels looked a bit worn and unclean, rugs in the room kinda old and used, and toilet didn't have a door handle. Also the door to our rather small own balcony was hard to open/close. Breakfast was basic, nothing fancy...

We stayed three nights at Calidan and had a lovely time. The location is a 3 minute walk to the beautiful beach in Mirissa. The hosts offer a delicious Sri Lankan or English breakfast (ask for Sri Lankan). The room was quite basic, but very clean, with a nice balcony. The shower and pluming work well. The Calidan guest house...

The hosts were so lovely and helpful. They helped us organise wale watching, dropped us off and picked us up after. The room was clean and spacious and good value for money, with amazing breakfast of fruit, avocado, fried egg and toast included. Great location, walking distance to the beach.

My partner and I stayed for two nights and were looked after very well. As soon as we arrived I asked the owner if there was anywhere nearby to watch the football and get some food. Before I knew it he borrowed a tuk tuk and drove me to get take away, and while waiting he updated his tv subscription...

Stayed here for two nights the location is good and the service excellent but the rooms are terrible. Our door barely opened, the bed was uncomfortable, room was noisy and the overall its was just not very good. They were doing building work when we were there so maybe once this is finished they will update the room however for...

I completely agree with HeatherR. I also hate to give a bad review and while the owner was nice the guest house is very much an afterthought. The room was damp, dark and grubby. The mattresses were disgusting and we left after 1 night. The shower is good but the bathroom/toilet door does not fit and close. Might not be...

The Calidan is a comfortable and clean base to go whale watching, or enjoy the beaches and surfing in Mirissa. It is comfortable, beds OK and showers hot. For the price, it was good value. The beach is only 100m away, and the harbour 500m away. It is worth speaking directly to the boat captains, you will get a much...

My partner and I stayed here for 5 days on a recent trip to SL and enjoyed it so much we came back for the last 3 days of our stay also. For the price its a real bargain with lovely hosts where nothing is too much trouble. The free breakfasts are excellent, book an authentic Sri Lankan version the...
