Central Beach Inn has a bunch of different room types at different price points. We stayed in the deluxe balcony with AC. Overall the room was ok and a decent size. My friend had issues with the bathroom door since it is very short and he is 6’1” (he hit his head several times). The room has a sort of colonial romantic feel with dark wood furniture and a four-poster bed with white mosquito netting. Standard amenities – WiFi, safe, small fridge, overhead fan, mini bar (electric kettle and coffee/tea), and toiletries. The steps to the balcony were very steep with a higher than normal rise and were shared with one other unit. A basin with water was on the landing for the stairs so that you could wash off sand from your feet. A gate was at base of the stairs. Breakfast was not included, and we did not eat at the restaurant. We did not have the room serviced while there by choice, but I think you have to ask if you want it cleaned. Comparison time: We stayed at two places in Mirissa Beach – Central Beach and Dream Palace. The two hotels are back-to-back with Central taking the beachfront and Dream Palace taking the street front. They both have their pros and cons. The rooms were significantly nicer and cleaner at Dream Palace, but I liked mattress better at Central as it was a little less hard. Both places had the same room amenities. You hear the music from the beach nightclubs at Central whereas you get the early morning beeping and bread-tuk tuk music from the street at Dream Palace (although the rear rooms are much quieter). Central is beach front and Dream Palace means that you walk through another hotel, for which the gates may all be locked after 1:00 am (be warned!). You will have to climb stairs at Dream Palace, but you can get a ground level room at Central. The service was significantly better and much more friendly at Dream Palace (family run) compared to the more business feel of Central. Central has a full restaurant and Dream Palace does not. The WiFi was somewhat stronger at Central and allowed for internet phone calls. Dream Palace is more budget friendly since it is not beachfront. As for Mirissa Beach itself, the beach is beautiful! The waves are very large and consistently frequent which means they may not be good for children or those who do not like to get batted around by waves. However, there is an area at the end of the beach by Parrot Rock with very gentle small waves that is good for kids. The beach is very busy all of the time and people come here for the nightlife. At least one restaurant a night turns into a club with a dj (until 3 or 4 am). At one end of the beach, they will put out these lit up frames that kind of look like giant eggbeaters out front of the bar that will be the club that night. They also have live music earlier in the evening at some of the other places. Mirissa Beach is a good central location on the south shore to make quick trips to Weligama (surfing) and Matara (city), and longer trips to Unawatuna (an hour) and the national parks (2 hours). There are plenty of restaurants on the beach, but I recommend getting off the main beach and going to Petti Petti, Mirissa Inn, or the Dilmi Rotti Shop (open 24 hours). If you want a deep tissue massage at the lowest rate, try the guy at the hotel behind the Seafood Hut.…
Rooms are extremely small But staff are supper friendly Great beach access Clean towels and linens Recommended Breakfast is good But if breakfast isn’t included on your reservation Try petti petti for breakfast
Location is great, right on the beach. Sleeping with ocean and waves sound was amazing. There are different room types, we stayed in Queen Room with Sea View and hence this comment is only for this room. The room was very spacious and big enough with ocean&beach view from the balcony. Also A/C was functioning properly. Staffs are very nice. Particularly "Lucky" and "Sudesh" are always ready for help with big smile. They always welcomed us with smile and helped us with patience for all the questions we have. If you love to sleep with ocean sounds , this room is definitely recommended.
We were travelling in Nov 2019, with extended family, there were many of us, including small kids. And it was truly amazing - staff is unbelievable, we were very sad to leave ! They were super friendly with kids (although non of them had a common language to speak, kids had awesome time with staff and I could not be more thankful for such great vibe), always attentive to guests and always ready to help ! Food was the best on the entire beach, we tested and tried many places there around, as we were staying for more then a week. In general - perfect spot. If I ever get back to Sri Lanka, this is the only place I want to be in and nowhere else :) Rooms are not exactly luxurious, but if you are only coming back for the night time to sleep, didnt matter that much. Much more important was the surrounding, service, feed, views and this great atmosphere.…
We stayed in Mirissa for 3 nights in this hotel and I have a lot to stay about this place : 1. Inexperienced staff at check in counters 2. Very small room size 3. Rude and arrogant staff , they will not speak to you nicely or give nice warm gestures., No smiles nothing, sad stoned reactions 4. The service at shack was very slow 5. Ok taste of food 6. Badly made Juices, full of roughage - Can’t enjoy them 7. The executive chef was helpful to arrange veg breakfast for us and he was nicely speaking other than him I could not find one nice behaving person 8. They don’t clean the room daily, it’s in 2 days that rooms are cleaned - Technically the 3rd day in the evening you will have your room cleaned - this was very strange to me and was nowhere mentioned while booking or while checking in 9. They won’t change or provide fresh towels daily - Very very strange., it was the 3rd day that we got fresh towels - Very disappointing Their shack was mostly empty on all days The prices that they are charging are also not less, there are lots of hotels on the same beach nearby them with the same locations and better service and food cos we tried them ( Try Brizo - Nice staff food service, Better location)…
Great place to stay if you like the beach! Rooms are small, but clean and with a mosquito net. Beach is just 50 meters away, and you also have a great restaurant to eat dinner and breakfast at, right at the beautiful Mirissa beach. Could have had 5 stars, but the Wifi is really poor, so one minus.
We looked for a place with interesting interior and exterior design, view onto the beach and good atmosphere. The deluxe room on first floor was perfect for what we wanted - 24 hours in touch with the ocean. The staff is very friendly and caring. What we didn’t expect was lounge music from 10am to 10pm, but we must admit that the DJ was great and the background music made our stay even more pleasant. Exactly 10pm the bar music was off. Thank you, we are already 46 ;-) Happy hours for drinks before 10th of December were really good value. Sun beds and umbrellas were free and always available, which was really important for my skin.
We have been there for a couple of days and it has been one of the best Places of our sri lankan trips. Great location, fare prices and real kind people! They supported us also in arrenging some activities in the area
Good location righton the beach, the staff were very friendly but very basic room and Wi-Fi was poor in our room. You are paying for the location as it is the only major attraction. We didn't eat at restaurant so cannot comment.
This review will cover accommodation and restaurant - be aware that the two are separate businesses so it's not possible to run a tab at the restaurant and get it booked back to your room (which is a bit of a pain but no major hassle) I had deluxe room with a.c. - large with comfy bed and fridge. Good shower, had to ask for room to be cleaned but that seems to be the norm here ? i would give the room 5 stars for location and price. Small porch area which would have been a joy to sit out on had it not been for the noise from the bar/restaurant. During the day, music was good, laid back and chilled. in the evening, it seemed like they wanted to turn it into some sort of beach rave with a bass line so high, it was hard to hear yourself think. Music went on until late (ie: after 2am) on a couple of days but generally does down by midnight. I wouldn't stay there again because of this. Not even sure who the music was for as the clientele did not seem to be hard partying types while I was there. Service in the bar was nonchalant at best. No service to Sun loungers which is again no real hassle but it just adds to the feeling that you were an inconvenience. No real interest shown and I thought the menu was really lacking in local food options. Food itself was good but better to cross the road and get better value and service. Also - i have never been to beach bar where the staff actively ask you to leave the loungers at 5pm so they can set up for the evening ? …
