Best Sri Lankan breakfast what we got. Room was very clean and big enough. Shower with good water pressure and hot water. Good bed. Nice swimming pool. Very near about everything. Hotels owner and her family was very kind and helpful.
Pros: - it is in a convenient location - the pool is very much needed with the heat!! - the rooms are relatively clean - the women who look after the place are lovely. Cons: - electricity went out multiple times with a nonchalant “this is Sri Lanka” response - think this could have been handled a lot better. - card machine has been broken since the day we arrived - but were told it would be fixed by the time we left. No attempt was made to fix it. They only phoned the repairman there and then when we were checking out in an attempt to fix it. The only solution in the end was of course to pay cash - but they expected us to have a large amount for a couple of nights stay just available on us. On top of that, they were resistant to accept LKR. There was a persistent expectation we pay in cash in euros or USD (we are English so didn’t have either and wouldn’t have had that amount on us in our home currency anyways). After this palaver, it was a god send that the cash machine was only a 5 min walk away! …
The small hotel in Mirissa is the best place to stay while catching some waves in Mirissa. They are so friendly and the rooms are very nice, having everything you need! I would totally recommend this to everyone!! Unfortunately we have already booked another hotel before which we have already paid, so we had to leave. But next time I will definitely come back! Thank you for the nice stay, although it was very short. PS: the sweets we got on buddhist new year were the best!! 😍😍
Perfect location near the main road and few minutes far from the beach. The host and all the staff are more than kind, taking care of you like a family member, i was traveling alone and I appreciate that! They serve a rich continental breakfast but you can have a rich choice of other option to get instead. Rooms are big, comfortable and really clean and the swimming pool is wow! Book here 'cause is the best experience you can have in Mirissa!
Kalu Mirissa is a lovely little property just minutes from Marissa Beach and the High Road, but also very quiet (we slept so well during our eight days there!). It is run by a very friendly lady and her mother, as well as a young guy who cleans the rooms and serves breakfast who is very polite and helpful and does his job exceptionally well. We stayed there for eight nights in an upstairs room and really enjoyed our stay. On arrival the room surpassed my expectations – it was really big and exceptionally clean with TV and fridge. The Sri Lankan breakfast was really good ( See pics below) – and I would recommend that over the continental one. All in all it is a really lovely place run by exceptionally friendly people. The fact there are only six rooms with not all of them booked out at the same time gave the impression that you almost had your own villa while swimming in the pool at times with a much better ambiance than you get at bigger hotels. The only slight criticisms I would make (if there were any!) would be warmer water in the bathroom and more variation in the Continental Breakfast), but all in all it is a fantastic option in Mirissa and I would not hesitate to recommend. –…
Located a 7 minutes from the Mirissa Beach we expected a quiet and relaxing stay. The rooms were clean and the old lady was very friendly and welcoming. Bed was comfortable. The AC was working well and we appreciated the anti-mosquito machine in the room. In the second night of our stay there was a lot of noise from the yard of the villa and a very bad odor came from the bathroom. There were no mattresses and umbrellas for the sunbeds (we found this uncomfortable) but the Mirissa Beach which is 7 minutes away was pretty nice. There were only 2 towels in the room when we arrived. It would be highly appreciated to have at least 3 (1 for the hands and 1 for the shower for each person). Breakfast is small and basic. They will either offer you juice or plate of fruits. The coffee is soluble, not espresso. We had the breakfast included but if we would have paid 7 USD per person (the price at the property) it would have been a very bad value. They are at the beginning and seem to try to make you comfortable however according to the paid price we had higher expectations.…
Lovely big room which was exceptionally clean. Bathroom of a good standard and bug proof. Pool was lovely and pool guy was in every morning. You are just behind Main Street but the location is quiet. We slept well every night. The place was so good we extended by 2 nights. What made our stay special was the owner and her staff. The hotel has only been open for a few weeks so a few little touches could improve it slightly. This would be mats on sun loungers and cushions on chairs as well as a little table outside each room. You ca buy breakfast and lunches and non guests are welcome. All in all a great little hotel
Big room, nice balcony and kids loved the pool. Good location, close to the beach (10 minutes walk) and restaurants. Would stay there again. The owner was very helpful. Small hotel, only 6 rooms, so very nice and quiet.
This is a must do in Mirissa. If you want to stay in a nice and reasonable Boutique Hotel with a lovely Swimmingpool you must go to Kalu Mirissa. The owner is a young ambitious woman who takes care of her lovely place. The facility opened just weeks ago. Everything works perfectly and is new. Rooms are spacious and very well equipped (AC, fridge, TV,...) Breakfast is delicious and they have a coffee machine - which ist not something you find easily in Sri Lanka. It was by far the place we stayed during our 3 weeks tour through Sri Lanka. The place is located in a quite street very close to the beach (3 min walk) and just around the corner from the main road, where you can find a big supermarket, pharmacy and plenty of restaurants. Whatever you might need, Manik, the owner will assist you. We definetly recommend this place to everybody who wants to have a high quality stay in Mirissa. Little hint: Ask for rooms directly, you might get better rates than on Booking.…
