We stayed here for two nights arriving on day 9 of 14 days in Sri Lanka. As the hotel advertised laundry services, with same day return I left my laundry with the front desk staff before 8am on our first morning there. I was sure to confirm with staff that I was checking out the following morning and wanted to ensure my laundry would be returned before checkout as indicated on the General Information sheet located in the guest room. Staff assured me this would not be a problem. As I was part of a tour we were gone from 9:30am to 9 pm. The next morning when laundry hadn't returned I followed up with the front desk staff (oddly enough the same person I spoke with the morning before) who indicated the laundry had only just been picked up that morning - meaning my laundry sat at the desk untouched for more than 24 hours, and that the laundry would not be returned until after 4pm on my checkout day (checkout was noon). After MUCH discussion and my persistence staff agreed to have someone go to the laundry facility and retrieve my laundry ASAP. I got my laundry back understandably unwashed after about an hour. Upon checkout I reviewed my bill, and much to my chagrin the laundry charge was still there. I should note that this was again the same exact person I had spoken with during my previous interactions. I had to explain why I should not be responsible for the laundry charges, after which staff then agreed to remove the charge. If you do have laundry to wash I suggest walking 200m to the Food City on Matara Road and buying laundry powder. Aside from the above fiasco, the room was clean, and a bit dated as expected. Housekeeping, and restaurant staff were wonderfully hospitable. There were a few Type-G plugs, a Type-C plug, and what I can only assume was two type-D plugs at the head of the beds. Interestingly enough the bedside lamps themselves were Type-C with no adapter, and therefore only serve an ornamental purpose. Bottom line don't forget your plug adapter.

Had dinner at this club and the food was very nice. Tried the tomato soup, grilled fish platter, and vegetables sandwich with fresh juices. Nice view and the place looks clean. More reviews @myra.recommends

The hotel sits in a beautiful location, has mesmerizing views from the rooms, plus you can hear the waves breaking when falling asleep. Beautiful. However, there is a total lack of hospitality and customer service. The staff had little to no social skills. Already upon checking in we were a little bit taken aback by the coldness of the front desk, however we thought it might be us and the 10+h long flight we just took. But unfortunately this cold approach continued throughout our stay. The worst part of all was the person in charge of the pool/beach area. He approached us twice in one day asking if we were guests of the hotel. Clearly, thinking we were not.. we even had to tell him our room number to make him trust us. I mean I get that they probably have lots of random people using the pool and the beach all the time, but they should figure out some other system, which is not disruptive (and disrespectful) towards their own guests. Anyway, all in all the hotel has beautiful views, amazing beach and a nice pool. If the staff were trained appropriately, it would be excellent, now it’s barely average. I do have to mention that the housekeeping lady was lovely, and she was smiling at us all the time 😊 Maybe she could train the rest of the staff.

I was staying at their sister hotel just along the beach. I didn’t take advantage of the fact I could use their beach facilities for free, but I did visit their beach bar for a drink just before sunset. The guys I met at the bar initially were super friendly, and while I was looking at the menu, they told me about the baby turtles being released just along the beach. I went to watch the baby turtles, then returned to the bar. They took my order, I grabbed a table, and my drink turned up after 5 minutes or so. Swiftly followed by the bill. Now I completely understand that they don’t know me, and if I was that way inclined, I might make a dash for it without paying for my drink, and to be fair their behaviour is probably down to that happening in the past. But I would much rather pay at the time of ordering, so I can then relax and enjoy my drink rather than being treated like I’m on Crimewatch! Because I felt so uncomfortable I paid my bill and waited for my change. Then I waited some more… Eventually after 20 minutes or so I asked another bartender where my change was. It eventually turned up after another 5 minutes. I enjoyed my drink, and the setting on the beach. But the service and way I was treated (not including the bar staff I first met) was pretty bad. Needless to say I did not return.

Rude staff. We spent 12 days in beautiful Sri Lanka exploring various parts of this country such as Columbo, Dambulla, Sigiriya, kandy and lastly Weligama. Our last 3 days were spent at the Marriott in Welligama Bay. We saw some reviews about the coconut tree hill and parrot rock and decided to take a Tuk tuk to Mirissa beach to check it out before flying back home. While we (fortunately) did not stay at the Paradise Beach Club the little interaction we did have with the staff was very off putting. As it was out last day we did not want to get sand on our backpack and Marriott was kind enough to let us come back and use their facilities to shower and change before the long flight back. We saw numerous empty wooden lounge chairs on the beach and put our backpack on one. We were almost immediately approached by a man who right away demanded that we pay him. It wasn’t clear if he even worked there but he offered us a “good deal”. He kept repeating “ you use you pay”. It was so rude the way he went about things! When we declined he demanded that we remove our backpack and place it in the sand. He then dragged the lounger away 5 ft from where we were standing. Truly it was like watching a toddler throw an tantrum for not getting his way. Again while I can not speak on the hotel portion, the little interaction we did have with the staff member made us so happy we stayed else where.

Hotel looks nice at a glance but then you find out plenty of issues- rooms are big but loads of mold on the walls due to the humidity. The food is great and varied, pool is big- but the overall facilities suffer from dirty surfaces- the bar toilets were extremely dirty and even when approached the bar staff complaining about the toilet situation- they chose to do nothing and didn't clean. Slow service at the pool bar. Overall disappointing- the place has a great potential but the low maintenance doesn't help

The worst hotel i have ever stayed in. the staff are unprofessional the service were extra poor no management in the hotel for the day we stayed. The food was ok not so bad but they have extremely terrible bad customer services in the restaurant even the name of the foods they did not bother to mention on the buffet table personally i don’t recommend to anyone to go to this hotel they will just end up ruin your holiday mood. The view and the place is nice they have a beach view but very insecurity as to night no even security in the garden area. Early morning we went to visit marissa whales watching trip but no one in the reception please provide new management with people who know the speciality of hotel management.
