Do not be put off by the track from the main road to Parrotfish Bay. It is the most glorious and beautiful Villa. I would suggest that it is for couples or singles who just want to get away from it all. There are 6 beautiful rooms all delightfully decorated with traditional designs. The beach is totally unspoilt with wonderful rock pools to explore and virtually no one around. Also great wildlife from turtles laying their eggs to baby turtles escaping to the sea, birds, chipmunks and iguanas. I stayed at the parrot fish for the second time over the Easter holidays. It was the first for my husband and daughter. I cannot tell you how wonderful the staff are. Athula,Krishantha, Shazan and Aska. Krisgantha’s food was amazing and he looked after all our requests. We had the best curry and rice in Sri Lanka. The food was so good we had dinner every night. Athula is an amazing front man with his charm and kindness, so perceptive to all our wishes. As soon as he realised the sort of things we liked he was ahead of us in suggesting many delights. Shazan & Aska never stopped smiling and always asking how we were and our bedroom was beautiful. I’m positive we had the best suite at Parrotfish Bay.

This is a stunning place which you won’t ever want to leave. As soon as you arrive the wonderful Athula will greet you and he goes out of his way to ensure every need is met. Beautiful gardens, lovely fresh cooked food, and a great pool. It's off the beaten track but a short tuktuk to restaurants and shops.

The location in itself is amazing. On the beach it self. Mind you the beach here is just stunning. A little way from here is natural and safe rock pool. Rooms and common areas have been created spaciously and beautifully. The pool was divine. The best feaure however has to be service levels of the staff. They were very accomadating to all our requests. The food could have been a bit better. However, I would put that down to people in our group meddling with the food orders, so i wouldn't think too much of it :) Loved the experience here and definietly going back again.

Excellent stay again. Exceptionally considerate service and fantastic food. And still a very rare find, with a secluded "private" perfect beach straddled by a cliff/rock pool on one side. Super serene.

This three night stay was the highlight of a wonderful first visit to Sir Lanka. All our stays were at lovely small boutique hotels but this 6 room hotel (basically 2 large 3 bedroomed villas) was the stand out for several reasons. The location is special at the hidden eastern end of the long Mirissa beach and very quiet and private. Our first floor Nila Beach Balcony room was the only one with a balcony which overlooked the beach. The views were 'jaw droppingly' beautiful and the best we had ever experienced anywhere. The food was exceptional particularly our last nights 'set meal' of lemon grass consumee, red snapper with rice, salad & fried potatoes and chocolate & passion fruit (from the tree in the garden) mousse. To really appreciate how good this was I have to point out that the snapper was huge and to share. Furthermore it was landed at 4pm, collected at 5pm and on the table at 7.30. To taste it was akin to turbut and the cost of the meal for 2 SR6000 ie about £26!!. The hotel is not licenced but they have a fridge for guests drinks which can be purchased from a wine shop only 5/10 minutes walk away. All of these plusses would count for nought if the service was poor (a review last year was critical on this point) but the team headed by butler Athula and chef Krishanthe were excellent. Athula is new but his attentiveness and memory for wishes expressed were remarkable which reflects some of his background as a 'high end' personal butler. I highly recommend this very special place and staff and would only mention that the sea (like much around the island) has to be respected. If put off there is always the lovely warm pool to fall back on.

Athula is a credit to the hotel. Nothing too much trouble, courteous, very good spoken English, explained all the foods. This is my favourite place on our tour and definitely the best and freshest food we had in Sri Lanka, fish only just caught within hours of serving. Fruit juices in the morning were amazing. Beach NOT suitable for small children due to shelving and waves but lovely pool to use instead. Turtles laid eggs at night in front of hotel. Hotel not licensed so take your own, fridge to keep it in along with glasses frozen for beer. Tea coffee available all times on request.

Where can we start? We were welcomed with smiles into the beautiful, clean, villa with a glass of cold soursap juice and a refreshing towel! The villa has a stunning view of a private bay on its doorstep. First thing we did was jump into the beautiful pool! Our family of 4 (2 adults, 3-year old and 7-month old) had a wonderful time here. The staff were very attentive, giving our son fruit or ice-pops, holding the baby, and fetching anything we needed. The rooms were cleaned regularly. One of the best reasons to book this place, however is it’s location. It’s away from the main road in Mirissa. As a family, we found it really convenient to be able to stay put and enjoy all of our food there. They also were willing to prepare something different for our son if he wanted it. The food was delicious and abundant. You can book a car for excursions from here; we spent an afternoon at Galle Fort. I also enjoyed a great massage on the beach! My son enjoyed his little tour of the garden with fresh fruit trees and herbs and the wildlife was pretty cool. We were woken one night to go see a turtle laying eggs! Overall, we would highly recommend this place for families. As an improvement, I might recommend the option to book it at an all-inclusive rate to include the meals since, frankly, we didn’t want to leave!

This was the most wonderful stay from start to finish. Upon arrival, they greeted us and said they would like us to treat this as if it were our home - it was even better!! Even though the restaurant had technically closed the evening we got there, they still made us a beautiful meal at a table over looking the ocean. The following morning we ordered teas from Atulah before breakfast had started and from that point on, each morning he bought us our favourite tea to our room at 7am on the dot - we did not have to ask for this, he remembered and what a surprise that was. The food was always incredible and the team always went over and above from going to the markets to buy what we fancied and picking the fruit from local trees if we wanted extra. Atulah was by far the best member of staff we encountered during our 2 week travels to Sri Lanka. He could not do enough for us. The hotel is right by the ocean where the turtles lay their eggs - we did not see any during our time which was a shame but the staff were checking all night long and promised to come and wake us up if we had any visitors. The setting is also beautiful, right on a more or less private beach other than a few friendly locals, sun loungers all to ourselves, a lovely pool and beautifully clean room. We literally cannot wait to come back to this place and have been dreaming about it since we left!!

Parrotfish Bay was the perfect place to spend the final days of our Sri Lanka trip. The setting is idyllic, the large rooms are chic and very comfortable and the service, although understated, is excellent. The menu is simple but the food is delicious and the dining area looks straight out onto the Indian Ocean. As there appears to be no reception area, you have to look for a member of staff to help you but, in practice, someone always appears immediately and nothing is too much trouble. A tuc-tuc will get you to Mirissa if you can bear to leave the hotel. We’d love to return.
