We stayed at Villa Monet in the Aquarelle's Villas complex for a week during April 2018. The villas are nice: very spacious, great pools, good setup the the outdoor deck wrapping the pool and a nice short walk to the beach. Keep in mind that the villas are very close together - you can see the neighbor's pool from the bathroom window - so if you happen to be renting next to a noisy crowd you'll be able to hear their every word. On our first night - which was over Easter - we had a very noisy group of locals who were partying and playing loud music until 3:00AM. The villas themselves are quite dates, the one we stayed in had quite a bit of mold on the walls, bubbling paint, half the windows wouldn't open properly and - the most annoying thing - the mosquito nets had holes in them. Just needed some serious TLC... The other thing I want to note is that there's an agent in Deshaies called Le Hamac that acts as the agent for some of these villas. Absolutely DO NOT trust the review on their website. I submitted a review for Villa Monet, it was mixed with positive comments about the location and pool, but also some suggestions about cleaning the mold, fixing mosquito nets, sharpening knives... Le Hamac removed all my negative comments and only posted comments that reflected well on Villa Monet. And even those, they changed what I said! Very dishonest outfit.…
We stayed at Aquarelle's Villas for 10 days and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The welcome at reception on arrival was smiling and friendly, always a good sign. My wife and I had booked a 2 bedroomed villa and expected semi-detached accommodation and were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a 4 bedroomed detached villa on arrival - this always helps one's impression of a place! Although the site is quite small, most, not all, of the properties are well secluded and private, with beautiful tropical gardens adding to the effect. Our only negative comment is that, in our villa, some of the furnishings were nearing the end of their life and/or needed replacement, such as the pool loungers and non-existent hammock. Each villa has it's own little private pool, well looked after and clean, which is fantastic. The villas are sited in a residential area on the coast [the nearby beach is poor but there are wonderful beaches within an easy drive,] and there is not much within walking distance. A large modern rather poorly stocked supermarket is 5 minutes walk away as is a baker, and also a restuarant which was not open during our stay. There is a restuarant at the villas which although friendly, we found a bit pricey for it's standard. You are better off driving about 10 minutes to the pretty village of Des Haies where there is a decent choice of eating places.…
