Really nice and clean Hotel with big rooms and a nice swimmingpool. Very good cuisine. Lovely staff. The only thing missing are the mosquito nets, other than that nothing to criticize. Looking forward to our next stay at this hotel.

The first important thing visitors need to know is that this hotel is not in Sainte Rose and is not where google maps have it located it is 4km away from google positioning. Do get detailed instructions as to how to get there, it was a nightmare in the dark on New Year's Eve and we had to be guided in!!!
It is not within walking distance of other restaurants and a car is essential. Do be aware that the bar and restaurant are closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday for us it was also shut New Year's Day and we really didn't have our bearings at this point.
Once Monday arrived we felt a lot happier with our choice of small hotel with beautiful peaceful surroundings and a great pool.
Our superior double room didn't feel that superior no chairs in the bedroom and saloon doors into the bathroom but a very comfy bed with bedding and towels changed every day and lovely views all compensated.
The restaurant was lovely with excellent food but the menu does not change and there was only one special whilst we were there. We did see alternative menu choices offered for children which was good. When the restaurant is closed the hotel does appear a little like the "Marie Celeste" as the communal lounge area is not that welcoming there is the potential for it to be so much better and a loyalty bar would be a great addition. Sandrine was a real star from collecting us on our disastrous arrival to providing a room for us to use at the end of our stay, she will be a huge loss as she leaves in February.

The hotel is a good base for travelling around although we found getting to Grande Terre always a slow journey and would recommend a week on each island to get the best of both worlds. Base Terre is the more spectacular island and Deshaies was a total delight Grande Aisne beach gorgeous with good beach restaurants with a wide price range. Also sun beds to hire a rare occurrence.
Grande Terre more tourism but the white sandy beaches with safe swimming shallow lagoons etc around Sainte Anne and Sainte Francois. The best meal we had was at Le Zagaya at Sainte Francoise.

I originally booked a more expensive hotel at the other side of the island and changed to this (I saw a review from a guest on TA from March and that decided if for me!) so pleased I did! The website doesn’t do it justice. We had a lovely room in the main house. Well decorated, with a large terrace and fridge. We also had the cottage at the rear of the property with an outside, covered seating area, kitchen and a small plunge pool. This had two en-suite bedrooms (which wasn’t clear from the website) so was absolutely ok for family or even two couples. Air conditioned throughout. Lovely grounds and swimming pool. The best thing about the property is the restaurant and staff. Absolutely superb food ( we ate here 2/3 nights) and the staff were very efficient and friendly and we managed to get by even though we spoke very little french. I researched a lot of places and also looked at a few when we were here and I still think we made the right choice. Deschaies is a great location with lovely beaches but also cute restaurants and is 20 minutes from the hotel.

Thanks to Pelican Safari Tour we had a lovely meal at this Hablitation. They were prepared to do a vegetarian meal for two of a party of four, on request - not brilliant but tasty all the same. Fish eaters loved the food on offer
Great setting, which has featured in (at least) two episodes of Death in Paradise - S01 E04 · Missing a Body? and S05 E02 · One for the Road

Recently returned from a lovely eight day stay at Habitation du Comte. We loved that the property is away from the hustle and bustle of the island, as we came down to relax. Rooms are spacious and well appointed, including fridges and ACs. Lovely breakfast served every morning (included) with fresh pastries, fruit, juice, and coffee. As most reviewers have noted, the restaurant is one of the best on the island, and we ate there four different times, ordering different dishes every time. Lovely pool for relaxing while the local rooster walks by. Overall, couldn't recommend this property any more highly - the small staff made us feel like we were home. Well positioned for visiting the top beaches on the Western side of the island, plus the botanical gardens and zoo.

If you like out of the way special places to stay this is a good one. It has character and was rather like having our own villa. It is air conditioned and the beds are very comfortable and the pool is lovely. Their main asset is their wonderful wines and gourmet food open for lunch and dinner and not having to travel to and from a restaurant. We are in our early 60’s so if you want night life it is not here. They do not serve food on Tuesday and Wednesdays. Calm peaceful place with a pretty well kept garden. Natalie and Magalee are charming and professional. We loved it.

We stayed at L'Habitation our last three nights in Guadeloupe. It's located a few miles west of Sainte-Anne and a short drive to several local beaches and the town of Deshaies. It's a little tricky to find, but once you do, you're in for a treat. L'Habitation is a beautiful facility with gorgeous outdoor spaces. The room was very large by European standards, well equipped, with a very comfortable bed, and intriguing decor. Our room overlooked the swimming pool and the gardens. There is also a fabulous restaurant at the hotel which we thoroughly enjoyed our last night in Guadeloupe. A continental breakfast is included in the room rate. One nice touch was that on the morning of our departure, we were leaving very early ( before 6:00 AM). Although they are not open at that time the manager/cook prepared a breakfast for us to get us on our way. I would enthusiastically return to l'Habitation on a return trip to Guadeloupe.

We returned to Habitation du Comte again this year after our excellent stay here last year. Our second stay was just as fantastic as the first stay in every way. We had dinner twice again at the hotel and the food was absolutely tremendous. The staff at the hotel are always very friendly and welcoming. This could be our favorite hotel to stay at when we travel, it is just so relaxing and perfect in every way. We hope to return again next year!

We stayed for four nights at the end of December and loved every aspect of our stay. The hotel is in a very quiet, peaceful location and just a short drive from the Grand Anse beach and the restaurants of Deshaies. Breakfast every day was quite good (fresh pastries, yogurt, etc.) and was included in the rate. We had dinner at Habitation du Comte twice and both meals were excellent and very reasonably priced. The rooms were large and comfortable, ours even had a nice balcony with a view toward the mountains. We'd definitely love to return and would recommend this property without hesitation.

Habitation du Comte is the type of hotel where one could easily spend a month (or more) ... just sitting on the terrace ... writing a screenplay about a family from a bourgeois American suburb who decides that they've had enough of the rat race and move to an unpretentious Caribbean island where the weather is almost always perfect, the food is sublime, and life is a simple, pure, hedonistic pleasure. Habitation du Comte is a gem ... a true hideaway where one can open the windows, listen to the tree frogs and crowing roosters and rustling palms and imagine that all is well in the world. The food is exquisite, Anthony is a genial and generous host, and the setting will make you ponder why you should return to your quotidian existence. Nearby beaches are magnificent. Such a pity (or maybe not?) that Norwegian Airlines has discontinued nonstop NY-Guadeloupe flights. The secret is out - but now it will be just a bit harder to find. Habitation du Comte is most certainly worth all the effort it takes to find it ...
