Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I have visited Guadalope three times- initially for part of a day during a southern Carribean cruise - that prompted us to go back for an 8 day visit to Ste. Anne and most recently we spent 11 great days on the island of Marie Galante. We prefer apartment type accomodations that allows us to make our own breakfasts and other meals or tapas, if and when we feel like it. After some internet research and email enquiries to operators of vacation accomodations that looked interesting, we chose to book apartment F2 at le soleil levant sur les hautes des Capesterre. When we arrived in Marie Galant, we were delighted to find our choice of accomodations was great - well equipped - clean - everything worked - very spacious - a deck off the bedroom that overlooked the ocaen- air conditioning in the bedroom - reasonably priced.-two swimming pools on site etc. On the slightly negative side the four piece bathroom was not quite up to North American standards (ie flushing the toilet required several attempts if there were "floaters" to get rid of and climbing in and out of the bathroom was a bit awkward) however we viewed this as a difference rather than an irritation).
The million dollar view at this property does come with a price - is is located on a hill overlooking the town of Capesterre, so if you decide to walk to the downtown (less than 10 minutes) you need to climb up the hill to get "home".

Overall I would give Le Soleil Levant, sur les hauteurs des Capesterre at least a 7.5 on on scale of 1-10. It is definitely a place we would return to ! Marie Galant is a beautiful island with great beaches, great rum punch, good food and a few interesting places to visit. It has a tranquil atmosphere. For active people that are continually on the go a two day visit to this island would be long enough. On the other hand if you want to relax, read books, lay on the beach etc and generally enjoy the Carribean with a French/European atmosphere but without the high pressure sales hype you encounter on some of the other islands, then I recommend a couple of weeks on Marie Galante.,

Marie Galante has quite a few accomodation options and I expect quite a few of them are very good, but based on our experience we suggest that if you plan to visit Marie Galante, you check out le soleil levant.

I called to make a reservation and was told there might be a room just come and see. Upon arrival I was offered a room in the town immediately or foe slightly more a room in a bungalow later in the day. Chose the room in the bungalow. Room was clean and included an equipped kitchen, balcony and sitting room. Excellent shower with copious amounts of hot water - heaven after a month in a place with cold water only. Sadly the restaurant was not open in the evening but there are places in Capesterre.
Loved the setting. Would go back.

The hotel has a lot of potential but it is now a construction site. There is NO POOL despite the false advertisement at HOTELS.COM and the manager is cheap on towels, speaks no English at all and makes you feel bad if you dare say anything!

We booked this hotel based on HOTELS.COM pictures and information and when we asked to cancel the booking we were told the hotel will charge us the full price.
As we had no choice we decided to stay and got free access to the Jacuzzi as a compensation which wasn't really close to a pool with ocean view.

To summarize, we had to ask for even the most basic thing like hot water in the shower and we always got a face making us feel as if we were asking for unreasonable things.

Very bad experience so far.

We had booked a bungalow at this hotel for one night in January. We had read in the reviews that the bungalows, though clean, smell kind of strange due to their wood. It was soooo true! The smell was to me disgusting. But the hotel personnel were extremely kind and understanding. They still had a free room which we got for even cheaper than the bungalow and that made our stay just perfect. Our room had ocean view, it was clean, big and quiet. The swimming-pool is beautiful. I can highly recommend this hotel IF you book a ROOM. We'd like to thank the hotel for such a beautiful stay and will definitely come back again. Last thing: they did rent us a car too, which waited right at the ferry for us. It was only 35Euros/day. Truly perfect arrangement!

Pension created by a baker. Very nice and relaxing place. I particularly recommend the SPA. The common areas are very nice. The view is beautiful. The bakery in the center of the complex will wake you with its good smells of breads in the morning.

We stayed there for one night as a quick getaway during our stay in Guadeloupe.
Beautiful place well located on the heights of Capesterre, friendly staff but rather discreet welcome.
No catering although it appeared in the room booklet which was a little disappointing.
Very nicely appointed room, very spacious, well equipped, modern bathroom, beautiful granite column sink and above all superb view with a magical sunrise…
Buffet breakfast side, a little average, low quality products and little diversity. Quiet hotel perfect for relaxing with a pretty swimming pool, in short, it's a great place to disconnect.
