Stopped here with a few friends to have a bite to eat and a chat. What can I say? The food was gorgeous and the wine went down very well. We were attended to by a lovely waitress called Katie. She was extremely helpful and polite and her knowledge of the menu was super. The atmosphere here is very relaxed so much so that we had one more glass of mine than planned. Will definitely return again.

The staff was nice, but the lodge has much more possibility than it uses. The house itself is lovely. But now: It is tattered, the view from our room was a roof, the bed squeaked so loudly if you moved even an ear, so do not expect any love life here. In addition, a horrible band played until 12:30 so even when I tried shutting the insane noice out by locking myself up in the bathroom it didn't help. I love music. This wasn't music, but some drunk local band screaming. My advice to The Coach House: Choose! Either you are a pub for tone deaf people OR you rent out rooms. You cannot combine the two.

The Coach House was recommended to me by the former proprietor of the Skylark's Rest Hostel, which is no longer open. We stayed overnight before walking to Glenmalure the next day for my birthday weekend, and it did the job. The room was clean and relatively reasonably priced and the staff were super friendly. Breakfast was grand. We look forward to staying there again on future overnight trips to Roundwood. If you call into the friendly pub opposite, The Roundwood Inn, give our warm regards to Christy Murphy.

We stayed as walkers in the coach house in. This week. At breakfast the following morning when I asked for orange juice I was charged 2.90 for this even though we had booked B&B and had ordered walkers breakfast .
