We did not enjoy our stay here. There is no view over the lake; no homecooked meal and the room and bathroom are very small. The wasingtable is the size you would find in a toilet. There was no WiFi code to be found. No sodabread in the morning. The owners offered us twice they would bring us to town for our diner without telling us they would charge us. They drove us in a minibus badly smelling of smoke. 4 km to go and after Dinner 4 back. Next Morning they charged us and the other couples in the minibus 15 euro each. So they earned 60 euro for driving 8 km

We enjoyed a fantastic stay at LoughDan House. We took advantage of a full hiking tour package which included being collected and returned to Dublin, several nights stay, fresh cooked breakfast and lunches each day, transport to trailheads as well as rides to a different pub/restaurant each evening. The area is absolutely beautiful with so many lovely walks to choose from. Theresa and Sean are available to help you select a hike each day and provide trail maps. The inn is very peaceful and comfortable... easy to relax and prepare for the next day's adventure. We really looked forward to the cooked fresh to order breakfast each morning. Best eggs, bacon, sauages and smoked salmon that we had in Ireland. We were also delighted with the surprise sandwiches each day...always something unique and fresh. We were the envy of all the others on the trail! We will be back as soon as we can!

What an amazing stay we had with our host Theresia and her beautiful dog Nellie, who was free to play with. The rooms were well equipped and the showers were spacious and delightful. Especially after a long day hike in the beautiful Wicklow mountains. The breakfast was the best breakfast we had during our tour. We would recommend Theresia to everyone.

Four of us stayed at Loughdan House for two nights in September 2022 during our trip to Ireland from Australia to walk the Wicklow Way. Theresa and Sean run this delightful B&B which sits up above Lough Dan and has sensational views. Nothing was too much trouble for our gracious hosts - we recommend it highly! Laurie

This B&B sits above Lough Dan and is surrounded by mountains, so it's a very quiet location. The B&B seems popular with walkers. The room was spacious, and there was a good choice of breakfast options. There's also a common sitting area with a wood burner.

This is my second time staying with Sean and Theresa. The rooms are spacious and homely and they make the guests feel at home, Theresa cooks excellent meals using local produce and nothing is too much trouble. The scenery is picturesque and it is a great place to base a walking holiday with the Wicklow track so close. I hope to come here again from Australia as I feel like it is my home away from home. Well done Sean, Theresa and team. Margaret

This was a truly wonderful experience from start until departure. I have visited Ireland and stayed at Salthill Hotel, Bellingham Castle (epic wedding), and as a main base the St. Helens Blu- all very different and unique properties-but I do consider these properties "posh". My favorite though- is the Loughdan House B&B. To me, it is "posh" in a different and now treasured way. The description of the location is certainly accurate-yet...not-- upon arrival-it really is- stunning- there are beautiful views in every direction (from Scar mountain, to looking over the Loughdan lake, as well as the pastures beside/around the B&B). This location is out of the way (but still close to the Wicklow way path) and enjoys literal proximity to nature -they have sheep as it is an active farm property- and I also saw deer, red grouse, and all types of birds. Arrived in Dublin and we were promptly greeted by Peter who transported us to the B&B-Peter was very personable and we enjoyed a safe and delightful trip. Upon arrival we were further greeted by Theresa who made us feel very welcome, asked for any meal preferences/allergies, and gave us information as to the property, meals, timing, and after settling- she also provided a perfect day trip hike map from the B&B to a gorgeous beach area at Loughdan that was secluded and beautiful-Theresa made a perfectly packed lunch for this spontaneous short hike (a few hours) that was much appreciated. NOTE: Should you be staying for a few days they have maps that you can take with you for many hikes both on the Wicklow Way proper as well as other day hikes from the B&B- this is their home on a large property and they know the routes, neighbors, gates, animals, and any terrain as part of themselves. Given weather, ability levels, timing, and preferred experiences- there is a hike for everyone- they provide transport to/from locations as needed and if they are not personally available to drive- they make arrangements with excellent local area transport to ensure a great day. BTW--Everyday was a great day. Those hiking the Wicklow Way proper from north to south or opposite- will not be disappointed by choosing to stay here- yes- it's a bit extra (1.5k) but repeatedly every night (I was there 5 nights) at dinner the multiple thru hikers/families stated this is the best accommodation on the Wicklow Way. As one who has hiked a LASH this year of the AT in the US-the 1.5km extra is worth the wonderful Loughdan House experience. Most thru hikers cited the friendly, quiet, beautiful, and private rooms as the best they had encountered- they also cited the...food. Dinner was served promptly at 7pm. It was a "pre fixe" menu and I never even bothered to inquire as to what the meal was- it was perfect every night. Three courses of excellent proportions that included a starter -creative and robust salad to include fresh cheeses/herbs, a fabulous and locally sourced dinner (fish, chicken, lamb) with fresh veggies/roasted potatoes, and dessert- everything was expertly timed for the dining room- and prepared to include temperature- I like my hot food HOT- and it was-consistently. The vegetarian dinners were lauded by those enjoying them each evening. One local driver stated this is a 5 star restaurant hidden in a B&B- food was superb (lets not go all Michelin level here- if a local says its the best dinner in the region and based on my experience it was wonderful) I agree. Breakfast has a menu to order from and was excellent every day-packed lunches were fresh and delicious consisting of a drink, some form of tasty sweet bar (twix, wispa gold, and picnic), and a fabulous sandwich that was more than enough. Sean was a delightful gentleman with whom we really enjoyed conversation, history of the region, and great insight on many topics-to include regional issues, preservation of nature, hiking sites, and so forth--his quiet sense of humor was charming and very much appreciated. I'm glad to have had met him (he is the type of person that will engage in a quiet delicious conversation that holds pearls of wisdom should one be attentive). Theresa the same--she also expertly gaged and knew the best hikes for the person, preferences, and ability. The room was great- clean, fresh towels daily, own bathroom/shower, and very comfortable beds. It was mostly very quiet (one night some late guests pounded up the stairs-likely disturbing everyone-but that's on those guests). If you are looking for a place with a bar, turndown service, TV, spa, pool, bathrobes, special soaps, etc.-this is not for you. In a special way- Loughdan House is more than those "amenities" to me and was for many others I met- Sean, Theresa, Nelly, and their family, friends, and associates have created a superb and special place that I am grateful to have experienced. Loughdan house is not a transactional place- but a place of lovely people, wonderful country, with personal and kind authenticity. Should you travel and enjoy the Loughdan House B&B- I hope you cherish the experience- it's rare -I'm better for meeting the Byrne family and I'll always treasure this trip.

Walking the Wicklow Way, I was very happy to stay at Lough Dan House. Theresa couldn't do enough and the lovely freshly cooked dinner and breakfast were the best I had had so far. The bedroom was nicely furnished and the bed very comfortable. Even the packed lunch was great and very appreciated on my walk to Glendalough. Would highly recommend.

I arrived here with my two adult daughters on day 2 of our Wicklow way trip, very wet after 3 hrs heavy rain. We were met with a warm welcome, our boots and wet clothes were taken & dried over night. We had a delicious home cooked salmon dinner that evening with a well-needed bottle of wine. They went out of their way to accommodate our dietary requirements. It was superb from start to finish. We had a delicious breakfast to set us on our way the following morning. Highly recommend.

Stayed here one night of our Wicklow staycation. Very comfortable and friendly hosts. Breakfast was delicious. A nice, simple place to stay and the hosts very very helpful. Maybe a little off the beaten path and not as many facilities as would have hoped.
