My husband and I visited this park for a weekend break to celebrate our golden anniversary, we were greeted by Jim and his lovely partner at the entrance, Jim ran through the rules with us and reassured us that we would have a very quite stay and anyone breaking the rules would be removed without warning, this was a great relief to us as we hoped for a nice quite weekend. Showers was not excellent but definitely useable, tents was close to each other but with firm order and mutual respect everyone got along nicely. Nice local amenities and a very pleasant place in general thanks to James keen eye and sixth sense for trouble makers and scary people in genral. Would highly recommend for a beautiful tranquil stay.
The campsite was very quiet with only 5 or so pitches booked. Facilities were clean with €1 token needed for the shower - my husband’s shower didn’t work on the first day but that was the only issue. Check in was quick. Wifi worked well and was included in the price. Roundwood is a very nice village with several shops, bars and restaurants - only 5 minutes walk. Also bus from the village to Glendalough is only €2.
We booked this campsite for a short break, we were greeted at reception by the owner Jim, he looked at us up and down and told us there is nothing in this campsite for family's and we may find another place to go and that he has the right to refuse admission and if we did not leave his property he would call the the guards. When I asked jim what his problem was, he replied "we have had your kind here before and Yee bring nothing but trouble" I really sincerely hope Jim did not judge us on our our skin colour, we were really upset leaving and couldn't help but feel ashamed to be black Irish.
I found the park clean and well run. Toilets were clean, water was hot, showers clean, everything worked. Rules were reasonable and made for a pleasant stay. Ideal for couples and people with young families. I found the owner pleasant and attentive. I would take a lot of the bad reviews on here with a pinch of salt.
Just left roundwood caravan and camping park after spending a week with family on the site and found it exactly as advertised ,its clean and well looked after by Jim and crew ,quiet snd relaxing with plenty of great restaurants cafes and bars within 8min walk and nightime on the secure site is safe and controled by a barrier and quiet time is 10pm ....looking forward to going back soon
