Lorna and Noel are the most welcoming and caring hosts you could ever imagine. Two seconds after entering the iconic yellow front door, we already felt like we were in a second home, surrounded by wonderful people. All the breakfast options you can choose from are selfmade and you seem to taste the love and effort that is put into the dishes. The selfmade "dutch babies", Gallan Mor's signature dish, are definetly worth a try. The whole interieur is very stylish/chic and equally cozy. Our room was perfectly clean and comfortable, the view can only be described as breathtaking. Gallan Mor is the perfect place to spend your time, if you are looking for more than just a roof over your head.
There's a painting by Lorna which is called "A warm welcome" which features the bright yellow door and is a perfect description for what we received. As soon as we entered this door, we felt like home. The Gallan Mor is beautifully designed and decorated, it is just so special and really reflects Lorna's and Noel's spirit. They were the most amazing hosts, truly inspiring with great stories and passion and just so kind of heart. We won't ever forget you or the stay at your lovely B&B. Also the food and the breakfast were to die for (especially those Dutch babies) and the view was breathtaking. Thank you so much for this special experience!
Lorna and Noel are the loveliest couple. They've clearly poured loads of hard work and love into their place. The property is absolutely gorgeous, with stunning views. We had the best time staying here. Beautiful garden and incredible paintings by Lorna throughout the place. P.S. Congrats on the coming arrival of your first grandchild! -Dave and Sushma
We stayed here for 3 nights in June and had such a lovely time. We arrived to a warm welcome from Lorna and Noel, including a pot of tea and delicious home-made carrot cake. Our room was lovely, with fabulous views across Dunmanus Bay and the Mizen peninsula. The bed was super-comfortable! Lorna's paintings, reflecting the surrounding beauty in nature, can be seen throughout the house. Breakfasts are superb. We had fresh juice, beautifully prepared fresh fruit, yoghurts and granola, followed by excellent Irish breakfast made from quality produce. The delicious "Dutch Baby" option was sampled and is to be recommended! Home-made bread and home-produced honey and jams completed the picture. And the views from the breakfast room, across the flower-filled garden and meadow, are simply lovely. We explored the Sheep's Head Peninsula, with the expert advice from Noel. The Peninsula is a very special place, with wonderful waymarked walks of all levels and lengths - quite rare in Ireland. We climbed to the highest points on the Peninsula, and explored both North and South coasts, as well as visiting the lighthouse at its tip. Fabulous walking on good trails, with flowers in abundance and the most spectacular views across the gentler landscape, wild cliffs, seascapes and magnificent wide skies. Places to eat were limited when we visited in June, but the Heron Gallery cafe & gardens was very nice and there are some very good places to eat in Bantry, just a short drive away. Noel and Lorna had some helpful recommendations. Peaceful, relaxing, comfortable and close to nature - All in all, a perfect place to stay!…
Had a few days of total relaxation. Lovely location with fabulous views. Breakfasts were superb. Highly recommend this guest house and the hosts could not have been more accommodating. Definitely one to go back to.
Stayed here for 2 nights and we can honestly both say it was such a lovely experience! Lorna and Noel are two of the nicest and most interesting people and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Lorna is also a local artist and her stunning work is on display to admire. Breakfast was AMAZING - the nicest scrambled eggs I’ve ever had and the smell of freshly baked croissants greets you in the morning. Gallán Mór is surrrounded by beautiful sea and mountain views from every room and is a stones throw to all the walks around the Sheep’s Head Peninsula and the local pub/restaurant Arundels is just down the road, which has great food and in a really lovely spot by the harbour of Ahakista. We look forward to returning soon very much!🥳😍 Holly & Katherine.
We stayed in the self catering cottage, An Gallan Beag, two adults and two teenage kids (18 and 16) The cottage is lovely, comfortable, really well thought out, beds are excellent. Lorna and Noel are just brilliant, fabulous people, couldn’t be more helpful, a joy to meet. They are superb hosts with great local knowledge and all the best places to eat (Arundel’s), walk and swim. On arrival they had left a jar of their own honey, a demi baguette and some Durrus cheese. A really nice touch! You can swim within a few hundred yards of the house and there are so many places to walk and swim around the Sheep’s Head. Definitely go out Mizen Head to the Lighthouse and Three Castle too.
My husband and I spent 4 nights in Lorna and Noel's gorgeous B and B. From the warmest of welcomes with homemade carrot cake to the regretful end of our getaway, I can honestly say it was the most relaxing mini break we've ever had. Lorna is a fabulous cook and has great recommendations for restaurants and cafés in the area. Noel has a beautiful vegetable garden and honey at breakfast comes from the garden hive. Ensuite bedroom was pristine, with crisp linen sheets and a view of Dunmanus Bay. We'll be back!
We've just returned from the Gallán Mór Boutique Bed and Breakfast on the Sheep's Head Peninsula. What a fabulous time we had there. Beautiful accommodation, divine breakfasts, a view to die for, and most lovely of all are the warm and generous hosts Lorna and Noel Bourke. It is a tonic to spend time with them in their beautiful home. They ooze positivity and are very special human beings. You come out of there feeling good about the world and full of energy to try new things. Lorna and Noel walk the talk and are completely inspirational. Very highly recommended!
We stayed here over a period of 4 days and I dont think you would find anywhere as hospitable. Wonderful hosts, delicious breakfasts and great conversation. So helpful with surrounding history and places of interest. Thanks again Lorna and Noel. Liam & Marian
