Well - how do I describe our wonderful two week plus stay in this lovely place with our dog Oscar??

Firstly, the location is beautiful and our room overlooking the Bay was spacious and comfortable. Scenery and places to visit all around were all within easy reach making each day a delight. We were in no way ready to leave even after our lengthy stay.

More than all this, however, our hosts Mike and Julia were very special - the perfect balance between being totally professional and yet making the experience a really personal one. When they say that this is your home they really mean it!!

And then, of course, there is the fact that, for dogs, this is absolute paradise. Oscar felt and acted like a King the whole time we were there.

All in all this has been one of the most wonderful breaks we have ever had and we would heartily recommend it.

Thank you so much

Myself, my partner John and our dog Woodley are just after leaving this amazing B&B after a wonderful two night stay. The hosts Julia and Mike greeted us with the warmest welcome when we arrived and were incredible for the whole stay. Our dog Woodley is reactive/nervous with other dogs and both Julia and Mike made sure that he was comfortable during our stay. The secure agility course was amazing to play fetch in the mornings and evenings to tire him out. The secure patio just off our room was perfect for Woodley to chill out in as he loves being outside. The food, wow!! We had the most beautiful evening meal one of the nights and the breakfasts in the mornings were 5 star without a doubt. Our days were filled with beautiful walks around West Cork visiting Barleycove beach and O’Sullivan’s bar in Crookhaven for food and drinks. O’ Sullivan’s bar was completely dog friendly which was amazing to see. Thank you Julia and Mike for these recommendations! We will definitely be back to stay here. We will miss the peace and quiet and stunning views.

Carbery Cottage is our new favourite spot in West Cork. Julia & Mike are fantastic hosts and great for recommendations in the area. Our dog, Joey was thrilled with the outdoor exercise area and welcome pack. He was also happy to be able to come with us to breakfast. The fact that Joey was welcome in every part of the property made us feel very welcome.

The breakfast was beautiful and fresh, made from mostly local produce. The location was ideal, a quick drive to Bantry, Schull, Barleycove Beach and Glengariff (the ferry to Garnish island is a must!). We also made our way along the coast to Mizen Head, so lots to see in the surrounding areas.

Our room was nice and spacious and the outdoor garden area was a lovely spot to relax in after a long day of adventuring. We’re already looking forward to returning!

We just had the best family holiday at the Carbery Cottage. We were a family of four (Caitlin is 12 and Conor is 10), with two dogs (Harley 3 and Bailey 1) and a cat (Tia 13). We had the warmest of welcomes from Julia and Mike. They say ‘our house is your house’ and they really mean it. Julia gave us travel tips every day and the location was perfect, we had three full action packed days from the wild atlantic way to Bamboo Park and Bantry Bay. The breakfasts and dinners we had at the cottage were just top notch, Mike does a mean curry!! The dogs and cat also had the time of their lives. The agility park for the dogs was great and handy to give them an extra place to let off steam. And Bubbles and Benson the horses were just gorgeous. We will be back, for sure. And will be booking our 2024 summer slot asap as this place is popular as you can imagine!!

Highly recommended. Stayed in the Seefin Suite with 5 JRTs and had ample room for doggy beds, plus a welcome pack awaiting them, and even better an enclosed large patio for them to explore.
Every day they had high voltage energetic fun in the dedicated dog activity area.
We humans stuffed our faces on cooked to order breakfasts, and fantastic evening meals every evening - our one complaint was we didn't have time to eat everything on the menu.
Jam packed with interesting books and art, towels/shower gels etc provided (and towels for dogs), spotlessly clean. But the hosts are not 'precious' - their onus is a welcoming place for dogs and humans alike - and they understand dogs.

Julia and Mike are exceptional hosts, deliver what they promise, and really have created a welcoming, relaxing, enclave in a stunning location.

We had such a wonderful stay at Carbery Cottage! Julia and Mike were so welcoming. It was our first trip with our dog Mocha, who is a little nervous. They welcomed her perfectly with a little space…and treats to make her feel welcome.

Julia gave us a little tour of the house when we arrived and showed us to our room. Mocha was delighted with her welcome pack!! We stayed in the seefin suite which was lovely. A spacious room and bathroom. We also had a private outdoor area which was fully enclosed so we could leave Mocha in and out without worry. We could sit outside and enjoy the sunset in the evening. There was also a lovely communal outdoor space. The nature walk and agility area were 10/10.

Breakfast was delicious. It’s a lovely touch to be able to bring the dogs to the breakfast area. Julia gave us some lovely recommendations to add into our day also.

The location of Carbery Cottage was ideal. Most main attractions were within 30/40 minutes drive. Taking a trip to mizen head, barley cove and garnish island are a must when you are staying here.

Overall an absolute wonderful trip. Carbery Cottage provides such a relaxing atmosphere and is definitely a must if you have dogs. We loved being able to bring Mocha with us knowing that she was 100% welcome and safe. We would definitely recommend staying here and we are already looking forward to returning in the future.

Our dog (and his humans) had the best holiday at Carbery self-catering cottage for a week and did daily walks along piers and beaches in the area. Carbery cottage was the perfect place to relax for 2 adults and our dog thoroughly enjoyed the agility training area.
You will be well looked after by your hosts who made us feel so at ease.

I adore this place! Julia and Mike are such wonderful friendly people who were the perfect hosts to myself, my boyfriend and our fur baby Nala. Yes, it is dog friendly and Nala loved her time there.
The BNB was so clean and the food was just so delicious. The breakfast each morning was perfect. Julia was the perfect hostess, and couldn't do enough for us and Mike, who cooked our meals for us while we were there, amazing cook! We had dinner on one of the nights we were there and we opted for their fillet steak- it was the nicest fillet ive ever eaten! Perfectly cooked. I was actually a little bit sad when it was devoured in the stomach.
Our dog Nala was able to be with us all the time and the the dog run area was great for her to be able to run around in and sniff sniff sniff!
I highly highly highly recommended this beautiful cottage, especially to anyone who likes to bring their fur babies along for a little break away! Stunning scenery all around.
I will definitely be back again and recommending them to everyone!

We are returning guests for many years now and this is still 100% perfect in every way, from great hosts, great food, great scenery and the best part is they are very very dog friendly. We bring our two big dogs all the time and they love it. The location is unreal and just a beautiful relaxing spot to stay.
Julia and Mike are exceptional hosts with a great knowledge of the local sights and amenities.

Yet again we had an amazing stay here this year. It’s one of our favourite places to return to with a stunning location and so dog friendly. Julia & Mike are great people and the dog run they have built is brilliant. We stayed in the Swallows nest this time and it’s a beautiful little apartment on the property, they also have a wonderful outdoor garden bar which is perfect for an evening drink. Beautiful beaches and castles to visit and very friendly resident horses 🐎 Definitely a gem and overall stunning place to stay and as always Mikes cooking alone is enough to go here for a breakaway. ❤️❤️
