There were water pipe problems and so the hosts cancelled all bookings except ours, and we got the big room downstairs instead of upstairs. Room was very big and clean. Really pleased with it. Not much of a view from downstairs though. The hosts know what they are doing. They even have a mini bar with a price list! Breakfast was very good and nicely presented.
We planned a visit to family during our week in Ireland. This B&B was the highest rated, so we grabbed a room. Little did we know that Jackie, our hostess, had gone to school with the cousin I was visiting! Small world! So the place- what can I say? Gorgeous! I couldn't find a single thing below par. We had the upstairs room, which could have easily accommodated a family of four! The en-suite bathroom was new and SPOTLESS! I mean, you couldn't find a piece of grout out of place! Skylights everywhere, plenty of parking, a gorgeous view of the fields and garden and nice comfortable beds, nice soft towels; I really can't say enough about this place! Oh and the breakfast! French press coffee, farm fresh eggs; I had the full Irish breakfast and my partner had a nice cheese omelet. We left with our bellies full, well rested, freshly showered (nice hot water) and continued our journey! I wouldn't stay anywhere else.…
I can't say enough of this incredible couple! They are amazingly inviting with a comfortable, cozy, and clean setup. They are beyond considerate. The breakfast was huge and delicious. It is within 5 minutes to a phenomenal monastic site with ruins and high crosses. Birr Castle is also a just short distance away.
Joe and Jackie are excellent hosts, warm and friendly. The entire house is immaculate, warm and cosy. Breakfast was excellent, cooked by Joe. We will definitely stay again when we next visit the area.
The family room is spacious with a television, minifridge, two large armoires and a big beautiful bath ensuite. The lovely location in the countryside is just by the Clonmacnoise site and only a few kilometers from Shannonbridge with several good choices for dinner. The best assets are the hosts, Jackie and Joe. They welcomed us, offered use of the back garden, made it easy to come and go and gave good advice on the area from the abbey grounds to the best pub for dinner. They also go well beyond requirement. Even though Joe was on his way to work as we left, when I foolishly left my ipad, he tracks us down at the Clonmacnoise visitor's center to return it. They are the best.
