After visiting the ruins of Clonmacnoise Monestary, my friend and I searched for some place to stay. It was dark and rainy. By some miracle, we stumbled upon Maria's bed and breakfast. No sooner than I had put down my luggage, my friend called me down to the dining room. It turns out that Maria had put out slices of warmed apple pie and tea and coffee us. Well, I am on a diet, so I thought I would just take a bite or two to be polite. Moments later, it was all I could do not to lick the pattern off the china plate. It was easily the best apple pie I had ever eaten (sorry Mom).

Breakfast the next morning was just as delicious and quite generous.

Maria keeps an impeccably clean home, and the suite had everything someone could want. No doubt that is because she has hosted guests for over 20 years. (I write, "hosted guests" rather than "run a B&B" because we felt so welcome and more like friends than customers.) I couldn't think of a thing I would want that wasn't already there.

When I return to Ireland, I hope to stay there again.

It was nice stay, house was nice and clean, everything was well looked after, but you could smell the age of it. Room and house in General was very clean, lady owner very nice and helpful, location only Ok, 3km from Shannonbridge and narrow Road so not really suitable for walk. Price was bit hish as for B&B (€90 per night)

Our hostess, Marie, was so very nice and such a good cook. The little JRT doggie was a blast for us doglovers. Large nice room, okay bathroom with lots of towels and even face flannels (which were sorely lacking in most places we stayed during our 12 night self-drive tour). Nice tea service. The area is very quiet and out-of-the-way. Quaint little pub in town/sorely lacking eateries and grocery shopping. It's worth going through town just to see the quaint bridge and Clonmacnois (sp?) ruins.

After an initial hiccup with our booking, we soon settled into two lovely rooms at the farmhouse and delighted in the welcome given by Marie - also extended to letting our 4 year old have the run of her grandchildrens toys! Great food and clean rooms.

We have stayed several times in the past at this B&B, the hosts Marie & Eamon have always been so welcoming. The B&B is in a great location, the rooms are perfect for families, they are always spotless, the hospitality is amazing and very accommodating. The food has always exceeded our expectations. There are beautiful grounds outside if you want to sit and relax, adorable shops, bars and restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend staying here with your family you will not be disappointed that you did.

Owners Eamon and Marie go above and beyond for their guests! The B and B is lovely, extremely clean, amenities, and large space with several rooms, pretty gardens, play equipment for kids, patios, gazebo, and the food is delicious. Our family of 4 had a great time. Close drive to Shannon Bridge which is a little village with food, pubs and music. We highly recommend and enjoyed our stay very much!

We happened upon the Laurel House while wandering looking for a place to stay. This B&B is lovely and our hosts were very accommodating. Upon arrival, we were served warm homemade apple pie and ice cream , which was wonderful after a long day of travel. They directed us to the local pub, where there was local Irish music and friendly locals. We commented upon leaving the pub, that we felt like we should say goodbye to everyone there, as they seemed like friends. I highly recommend this B&B!

We found ourselves in Shannonbridge for 2 nights and stayed at this wonderful B & B hosted by Eamon & Marie. What a treat, we had a choice of room, and we were then told about the local eating and drinking places. We were offered a lift down and called their mobiles when we were ready to return. That was a great touch, as Shannonbridge was out of walking distance at night especially. We had an excellent breakfast for 2 mornings and the whole place was a real great experience. We live a long way from the UK & Ireland, but I would hate to think I'd never be back there again sometime.

I stayed here for work. The hostess Marie was an absolute sweetheart. She left out food for breakfast, she cooked a dinner each Evening for 6 of us, and followed with dessert and tea. You would be lucky to get that anywhere else. She is the nicest women. The rooms are spotless, not a bother with them. The b&b has a lovely lounge and is just a stonethrow from Shannonbridge and West Offaly Power. I would certainly recommend staying here and can't wait to return
