Detailed Reviews
A beautiful house with plenty of history set in gorgeous grounds in a wonderfully remote area, close to lovely beaches with coastal walks, yet only 20 mins from bustling Sligo, Robert is an excellent host, he filled me in on the history of the house and spared time to really show me around the property, I stayed in one of the cottages at the side of the house which are perfectly self contained and very peaceful. There is also plenty of parking here.
I would definitely recommen it and would stay again in a heartbeat!
A big thank you to Robert, family and staff, you're amazing! ❤️

Very comfortable accommodation in an idyllic location with charming and helpful hosts. If you prefer the sanatized, homogenized experience of international hotel chains you may be happier elsewhere. This is an authentic, old world experience with real people who truly care about the quality of their hospitality.

This location is a place to get a rest and to relax. Robert the host is doing a great job and you really feel at home. The house itself breathes a special charm the allows you to really relax. In a walking distance of 5-10 minutes through trees and meadows it is possible to reach the beach and have a swim or take some deep breaths at the sea.

An absolutely lovely place. A beautiful country house. Host very welcoming. Location is amazing, the drive up to the secluded house part of the adventure. The view from the rooms, the comfortable beds. Can’t wait to go back!

It doesn't often happen that the place you've imagined matches closely with the reality, but that was my experience at Ardtarmon House. I was travelling with my son, on his summer break from college, and from the moment we turned our tiny rental car up the wooded lane and caught sight of Ardtarmon House, we both suspected we'd found our dream B&B.
The house is stately and handsome, yet also inviting. We were greeted at the door by Christa, who owns the Ardtarmon House with her husband Charles. She took us to our room, spacious, with a sitting area by the bay window, lovely wooden furniture, and a large and spotless bathroom. Christa offered us tea or coffee in the sitting room once we'd settled in, and I must mention that it was the best coffee I had in a week in Ireland. Good biscuits, too.
Throughout the house, the furnishings are antique, appropriate to its nineteenth century aura. The house feels warm and alive, not at all like you're visiting a museum, even though there are paintings and even a few swords hanging on the walls.
The grounds are large and pretty with woods and flowers, very lush and green. There's an ancient tree where children climbed and played on the swing. We walked down a path to the ocean that takes you past a field of grazing cows. From the beach, you can look across the sea to distant strands and mountains.
Our hosts gave us some suggestions for dinner, and we settled on a pub called Lang's, a few miles away, where we ate tasty fish and chips in a friendly atmosphere.
If you're interested in touring historic places, just down the road from Ardtarmon House is Lisadell, the home of Countess Markiewicz, the Irish aristocrat, who fought on the side of a free Ireland and was a great friend of the poet, WB Yeats. Another interesting sight nearby is a castle that you can see quite well from the road.
The beds were very comfy and breakfast was very good. My only wish is that we could have stayed there longer.

We stayed at the house for two nights with our two small girls. The whole stay was wonderful. The house was very comfortable and the hosts were graciuos. You can walk to a wonderful private beach and play on the grounds of the manor house. We wish we would have stayed longer.

Hello All,We planned to stay only one night, but liked Ardtarmon so much, we stayed two nights. The Henry's were very friendly and seemed keenly interested in how they could assist us in a side trip to our family roots at Castle Neynoe. We did find it, by the way! We wanted to stay off "the beaten path" and did. We rented a car and plotted our trip. It's the bestway to see rural Ireland. Ardtarmon is a perfect example of an Irish manor house. The Henry family has lived there of 150 years. I highly reccommend this accommodation for any adventurous Irish tourists. Regards,Tony Garstin Atlanta, GA

This place is lovely and historic--a family home with great hosts. The house is elegant and spacious, with gorgeous grounds, and a great location on the beach a short ride from the center of Sligo. We really enjoyed it here--the accomodations are comfortable and feel really special.

Just spent the weekend in Ardtarmon with 14 members of my extended family (9 adults and 6 children) and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We booked 3 of the cottages and one room in the house itself and all accommodation was 'spot on'. I hesitate in recommending it only because it'll make it more difficult for us to book in the future! Charles Henry was an excellent host and adults and children had a ball.

My wife and I stayed at Ardtarmon House in May 2009 as a special treat.
Having looked it up on the web Ardtarmon Manor Farmhouse looked like a real nice, warm and comfortable place to stay.
The impression of Ardtarmon on the web page made the Guest House look better than it actually is. It reality, it was far removed from what greeted my wife and I.
There was no TV in the bedroom.
There was no shower in the ensuite bathroom with the exception of a flexible hose freely hanging on the bathroom wall.
The TV in the lounge was a small portable one with a "rabbit ears antenna" which received three (3) very fuzzy and flickering channels.
When we mentioned this to the owner (Charles Henry) his arrogant comment was "why would you be watching television on your holidays".
As for the dining room it was disgraceful. The decor (portraits, furniture etc) had the appearance as if they came from the local car-boot sale.
THERE WAS NO DINNER MENU TO CHOSE FROM!
**You got what the proprietor decided you should have**.
The same applied for breakfast - THERE WAS NO MENU!
The quality of the food served was very poor if not deplorable which was inconsistent with the impression suggested by the web page. In fact we eat better quality food at home (and we do our shopping in ALDI).
Save your money.

Sorry I never seen this query, the best places I found were Laura's in Carney village, a lovely little Italian restaurant quite close to Ardtarmon and then also Harry's on the Sligo road.
